We are seeking a Commercial Contracts Paralegal to join the WTW legal team, based in Ipswich.  Reporting to the Contracting Operations Manager and sitting within the Global Contracting Team located in our Ipswich office, the Commercial Contracts Paralegal will support the first pass review of a broad range of commercial agreements between WTW and its clients, carriers and suppliers. This is a hands on role suited to someone with experience reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts in a fast paced business or professional services environment. The role is based in Ipswich, with a requirement to be in the office at least three days per week.

The Role:

  • Perform first pass legal review, draft and recommend amendments to contracts/agreements in accordance with WTW’s guidelines and playbooks.  Agreements will include:
    • NDAs
    • Master services agreements (both client and supplier) and statements of work
    • Insurance brokerage terms
    • Data processing agreements (DPAs)
    • SaaS and technology contracts.
  • Identify key commercial and legal risks and issues, liaising with WTW’s lawyers located in the UK and North America who will undertake the second level review of the Paralegal’s work.
  • Provide legal support to internal clients, across all lines of business, with respect to their contracts; liaising with them via email and Teams calls in a professional manner.
  • Support negotiation with external counterparties to manage WTW’s risk and achieve WTW’s desired outcomes.
  • Escalate complex issues to the Team Lead or the relevant lawyer in accordance with escalation protocols.
  • Focus on quality, while understanding the legal and financial implications of the contract provisions.
  • Understand WTW Policies and contracting framework and requirements. 

Qualifications

What you’ll bring

  • Previous experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, preferably supporting commercial contracts
  • Strong understanding of contract structure and key commercial terms
  • Experience reviewing and processing redlines under supervision
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Confident communicator comfortable dealing with non‑legal stakeholders
  • Law degree or equivalent legal qualification (or relevant practical experience)
  • Paralegal qualification or equivalent experience preferred but not essential
