    The opportunities and support available 

    As a Risk Consulting Engineer in WTW Asia Risk & Analytics team, you will work closely with Senior Consulting Engineer in the team to provide insurable risk surveys for a wide range of regional clients in and associated with the energy industries including but not limited to oil, gas, chemicals, power, utility and renewables industries along with providing risk & insurance advisory, risk assessment, data analytics, loss prevention and technical claims support. 

    The role requires a thorough knowledge of process technology, process safety management, operations and maintenance, risk engineering, fire and life safety systems plus an understanding of project and construction risk management techniques. 

    You will be guided by and working with senior team members on: 

    • Assessing, discussing and establishing strategic Risk & Analytical services and value propositions for clients and prospects alike.
    • Arranging detailed Risk & Engineering services through discussions with WTW account teams, clients and underwriter engineers.
    • Coordinating and managing the execution of underwriting surveys to the satisfaction of clients and insurers;
    • Preparing underwriting information and risk profile reports to assist in the placement of client insurance programmes.  Reports will contain key understanding of the hazards at facilities and how the management team are controlling/mitigating their impact. Presentation of loss calculations is also required;
    • Developing risk improvement recommendations that are clear, appropriate and are fairly balanced between the interests of clients and insurers;
    • Calculating loss expectancies within company guidelines across a range of industries and insurance lines;
    • Ensuring that all reports and other deliverables are prepared and ready in a timely manner.
    • Providing technical support to clients and the WTW broking team(s) across a range of issues relating to good industry practices;
    • Maintaining all risk management team tracking tools such as schedules and planning spreadsheets;
    • Maintaining technical competency in key industrial sectors and keep up-to-date with risk management developments (e.g. attend seminars, review technical publications, etc.)

    Qualifications

    • Degree (or equivalent) in engineering-related, preferably in Building Services, Fire Engineering or Fire Safety Engineering 
    • Self-starter, with good interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively relate to individuals at all levels – from site technicians up to company CEOs
    • Ability to write detailed reports of a varied technical nature in English
    • Excellent verbal communication in English is essential. Fluency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese is advantageous
    • Knowledge of fire protection and detection systems
    • Knowledge of natural catastrophe risks
    • Minor travel may be required 
    • Internship in the field of Risk Engineering, focusing on the energy industry, fire safety, life safety, and security protection techniques.
