Allen Mabalot’s story: from mathematics graduate to actuarial professional

When Allen Mabalot applied to WTW in the Philippines, he was looking for an opportunity to turn his passion for mathematics into a career in actuarial consulting. Refining expertise through real-world application

Today, Allen works as an Actuarial Valuation Analyst within the Retirement business. His role involves supporting pension valuation projects, analyzing data, performing calculations, and helping prepare client deliverables. Through this work, he has developed both his technical capabilities and his understanding of how actuarial services help clients make important business decisions.

Unlocking potential through continuous development

Allen’s responsibilities have evolved significantly since he first joined. Initially focused on learning valuation fundamentals, internal processes and quality standards, he gradually took on more complex project work and greater responsibility. With experience, increased confidence in managing technical tasks and collaborating with colleagues across the business.

One of the aspects he enjoys most about his role is the opportunity to solve analytical problems and work with data to produce outcomes. The combination of technical challenges, continuous learning, and partnership with colleagues from diverse backgrounds keeps the work engaging and rewarding.

Reflecting on his experience, Allen shares “The most valuable lesson I learned was the importance of attention to detail and effective communication. Technical skills are important, but clear communication and teamwork are equally essential for delivering quality work.”
