Today, Nhy works as a Claims Executive, managing the end-to-end claims lifecycle on behalf of clients. Her role involves working closely with insurers and stakeholders to ensure claims are handled efficiently while delivering the best possible outcomes for clients.
The reward of creating solutions
One of the most rewarding aspects of Nhy's role is the opportunity to solve complex problems and make a real difference for clients. Every claim presents a unique challenge, requiring technical expertise, attention to detail and strong communication skills.
"I really enjoy the problem-solving aspect of the job," she explains. “Many claims get stuck or delayed due to policy misunderstandings, so finding a practical solution and getting the insurer to pay the client fairly gives me a great sense of achievement."
Through hands-on experience, Nhy has developed both her technical knowledge and her confidence in managing increasingly complex claims. The variety of work and continuous learning opportunities have helped her build a strong foundation for her career.
Mentorship that matters
A key part of Nhy's growth has been the support she received from mentors and colleagues. Beyond teaching technical skills, they helped her develop a proactive approach to problem solving and decision making.
"My mentors and colleagues didn't just teach me claims procedures, they showed me how to analyze tricky claim scenarios," she says. “They provided guidance on a problem-solving mindset, shifting from reacting to challenges to proactively driving practical solutions."
Alongside mentorship, Nhy has found practical ways to manage her workload and maintain wellbeing. Making full use of WTW's tracking tools, seeking advice from more experienced colleagues and keeping a prioritized daily task list have all helped her stay organized and productive.
Embracing challenge and development
Like many client-facing roles, claims management comes with its challenges. For Nhy, one of the most demanding aspects is balancing differing viewpoints while working towards a fair resolution.
"The hardest part is handling cases where both sides have different interpretations," she explains. “It takes strong attention to detail and careful negotiation to protect the client's interests while keeping a professional relationship with the insurer."
These experiences have reinforced one of the most valuable lessons she has learned during her career so far: effective claims management requires action, communication and a focus on solutions.
"Effective claims execution is about proactive resolution, not passive management. Clear communication and strong technical evidence directly lead to faster, fairer outcomes for clients."
Advice for the next generation
