Carl Joshua Mamuri is an Actuarial Services Analyst at WTW in the Philippines. He first saw the company as a strong starting point for building a career in actuarial science and joined through the internship program, which gave him early exposure to the industry.
Gaining hands-on experience early on
Carl’s experience has evolved quickly since joining. During his internship, he initially worked on automation and observed projects, but as he progressed, he took on more responsibility, including working directly on valuations and engaging more closely with clients.
This shift gave him the opportunity to build technical experience while developing a better understanding of how actuarial work supports client outcomes.
Learning from those around you
One of the things that stood out to Carl, initially, was the engaging culture at WTW. Through mentorship and structured upskilling during the internship program, he was able to build confidence and transition smoothly into a full-time role. As his role and skills developed, Carl has been able to take on more complex work.
Advice for future graduates
