Every career journey is different, but some themes come up time and again when colleagues talk about their experiences at WTW: learning from talented people, taking on impactful work, building global connections and having the trust to shape their own path.

From the UK to India, three colleagues share what's shaped their careers with us.

Growing through trust and responsibility

For Nirojana Shanthakumar, Senior Associate in UK’s Retirement team, her WTW journey began with a four-week internship in 2020. She received an offer to return and has continued building her career with the business ever since.

"Everything I've wanted is here. Great clients, responsibility and amazing people to work with."

Career development has been a consistent feature of her experience, "I've been promoted every single year."

She also credits working alongside senior consultants with helping her gain exposure and responsibility from the start.

Building flexibility by being consistent

Joshua Burnaford, Lead Associate for Client Service and Delivery in the US Construction team, believes that working with people you can depend on is one of the foundations of his success.

"Working in WTW is all about cultivating and sustaining trust with our clients and colleagues."

For Joshua, this is built through consistency and clear communication. "Let your colleagues and clients know what to expect and do what you say you'll do."  That approach, he says, creates the base for flexibility.

He also highlights the resources available to help colleagues succeed. "Our learning resources are extensive, and our professional standards are clear and easy to use."

Development through working together

Ketan Naik, a Full Stack Developer in India, quickly gained an understanding of how teams come together across the business to support clients.

"In my first week I learned how important collaboration is at WTW and how closely teams work together to deliver real value to clients."

Reflecting on his experience at WTW, Ketan points to the working environment as one of the aspects he values most.

"One thing I really appreciate about my work environment is the positive and inclusive culture, where ideas are welcome and teamwork truly matter."

The guidance he received from colleagues and leaders helped him continue developing new skills and taking on valuable challenges.

A career shaped by people, growth and impact

While each person’s journey is unique, common themes emerge. Learning from experienced colleagues, taking on new challenges and collaborating across borders all play a role in shaping their experiences.
