Description

Everything we do within WTW Global Technology has a global focus at its heart. We aim to provide colleagues with consistent technology, experiences and operations wherever possible.

The AI Technical Platform Leader will be crucial to the delivery of WTW’s vision of a future where AI Platforms are self-service, governed through automated guardrails, and increasingly operated through intelligence versus human intervention. In this role you will shape and deliver WTW’s central, enterprise-wide AI platforms by working closely with Architecture, Information Security, Compliance, and business stakeholders to mold and implement strategy.

The role applies broad technical knowledge with depth in generative AI, agentic systems, enterprise platforms and engineering governance to ensure that AI platforms at WTW are optimally configured to achieve company vision and imperatives. It has end-to-end ownership of implementation and run activities for central AI platforms, ensuring solutions are secure, governed, reliable and aligned to measurable business outcomes.

The role may be performed in a remote or hybrid pattern from the US or Great Britain, with occasional domestic or international travel as required.

The Role

•    Shape the design, implementation, and ongoing support of WTW’s enterprise AI platforms.
•    Establish and continuously improve deployment methodology for production-grade AI solutions across enterprise AI platforms in the following areas:
o    Agent lifecycle management:  Build reliable mechanisms for broadly distributed agent solutions to adhere with company policies.   Establish continuous delivery pipelines and repeatable release processes.
o    AI Capability Enablement:  Support controlled distribution of skills, plug-ins, connectors and other extensibility outlets for enterprise AI Platforms with consistent engineering approaches:
•    Build automated procedures to harvest, standardize, and deploy skills to AI Platforms such as Claude and Copilot.
•    Develop continuous delivery pipelines, including security scanning, for plug-ins and connectors.
•    Build and continuously maintain deployments of AI models within WTW’s hyperscaler environment.
o
•    Partner with Architecture, Compliance, and Information Security to embed governance, responsible AI and security controls into the AI platform by design, including identity, data protection, content safety and auditability.
•    Define and implement AI operations (AIOps) practices for AI Platforms:  Monitoring and observability, forensics on security anomalies, token/quota capacity planning, and workload optimization.
•    Serve as a senior technical escalation point for AI platforms, leading investigation, root cause analysis and remediation of issues impacting production AI solutions.
•    Influence adoption of new AI capabilities by coordinating technical messaging, implementation guidance and alignment across impacted teams and lines of business.
•    Identify engineering and operational improvement opportunities, articulate recommendations and lead delivery of improvement initiatives across the AI engineering practice.
•    Continuously evaluate emergent capabilities of WTW AI platforms--defining adoption strategies and roadmaps to accomplish business outcomes.
•    Maintain a strong information security and responsible AI posture, ensuring risk mitigation and adherence to data protection, model governance and applicable regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

What you'll bring

•    Extensive technology experience.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate hybrid expertise in engineering and technology operations in a large, global enterprise:
•    Software or platform engineering for global, enterprise-scaled solutions
•    Management of Site reliability engineering (SRE) programs for mission-critical systems
•    Creation and management of DevOps practices for automated, consistent, and secure solution deployment in regulated environments.
•    Literacy in global compliance (e.g. GDPR) constraints and proven hand in navigating variable regional requirements in the implementation of centralized enterprise assets.
•    Deep specialist knowledge of generative AI, agentic systems, model-provider ecosystems and enterprise AI engineering patterns, with the ability to apply that expertise across related technology disciplines.
•    Practical experience designing, building and deploying AI agents using enterprise AI platforms, orchestration frameworks or comparable technologies, including declarative agents, custom-engine agents, connectors and extensions.
•    Hands-on experience integrating with large language models via APIs, including tool use, governed data access and emerging interoperability patterns such as the Model Context Protocol.
•    Strong understanding of generative AI engineering fundamentals, including:
o    Prompt engineering and context design.
o    Context engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embeddings and vector search.
o    Agent orchestration, multi-agent patterns and skills/plugin development.
•    Experience with cloud-based AI, data, identity and governance services, ideally including Azure AI, Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Graph or comparable enterprise cloud services.
•    Practical knowledge of AI governance, responsible AI and security, including data protection, identity and access management, content safety and model risk management.
•    Familiarity with the regulatory landscape for AI, for example the EU AI Act and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, and the ability to operationalise requirements through engineering controls.
•    Proficiency with DevOps and automation, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code and source control, to support reliable, repeatable delivery.
•    Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex and ambiguous technical challenges through analysis of multiple sources of information and sound interpretive judgment.
•    Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with experience building critical partnerships across technology, business, security, architecture and vendor teams.
•    Experience working directly with business users or product stakeholders to translate workflow needs into AI solution designs, validate outcomes and ensure solutions deliver practical business value.
•    Demonstrated technical leadership through mentoring, advisory, design review and influence across teams, often without direct authority.
•    Proactive, improvement-focused mindset, with the ability to operate effectively in evolving environments, shape technical recommendations and drive outcomes with minimal supervision.
