The Business                                                                                                                  

WTW Integrated & Global Solutions (IGS) team is dedicated to serving the needs of the headquarters of its multinational clients. Operating in the global marketplace means multinational companies face a variety of different business, cultural, language and regulatory environments. Our IGS helps these companies navigate these challenges. We advise multinational companies on certain specialist topics where the IGS has unique experience, but we also act as a single point of contact to help solve client questions where we draw on the expertise of our colleagues from around the world. Within IGS, we group our services into the following main areas:

  • Multi-country coordination and project management 

  • We provide advice and coordination for global projects including for example: 

  • Benefits inventory, benchmarking against market practice and compliance

  • Global broking and other benefits procurement activity

  • Advice around the management of employee benefits 

  • We provide advice to headquarters on the most efficient management of their employee benefits. Examples might include: 

  • Supporting global oversight and governance procedures 

  • Co-sourcing of benefits management

  • Health & wellbeing strategies

 

Consultants work across borders in international teams supporting multinational organizations.

 

The Role                                                                                                                  

The role focuses on delivering global consulting services to multinational clients and coordinating local consulting and brokerage teams, primarily in medical and other insured benefit programs. The position combines strategic advisory, global program leadership, client relationship management, and business development responsibility.

 

Key Responsibilities

Client Strategy & Advisory

  • Design and deliver global benefits strategies for multinational clients.
  • Connect benefits strategies to broader Employee Value Proposition (EVP) and Total Rewards frameworks.
  • Serve as a senior international advisor on global client assignments.
  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with client stakeholders.

 

Global Program Delivery

  • Lead and manage multiple global and regional client engagements.
  • Coordinate international teams to execute client strategies effectively.
  • Guide local consulting and brokerage teams to ensure global strategies are implemented in a locally appropriate way.
  • Develop execution plans for large, complex global programs.
  • Prepare statements of work, project plans, budgets, and timelines across multiple geographies.
  • Ensure delivery meets agreed objectives, timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Review, finalize, and present high-quality deliverables to clients.

 

Business Development

  • Take accountability for revenue generation within target accounts.
  • Identify, develop, and close strategic sales opportunities.
  • Introduce new clients and new projects to the firm.
  • Expand existing client relationships through cross-selling of additional services.

 

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Mentor and support the development of consultants across regions.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional and cross-regional teams.
  • Contribute to a strong, inclusive, and collaborative global team culture.

 

Role Summary

  • Location: Tokyo, Japan
  • Primary focus: Build and expand relationships with Japanese multinational headquarters, serving as a trusted on-the-ground consultant in Japan
  •  Client scope: Global and multi-country engagements for Japanese MNCs, in close coordination with regional and global teams
  •  Role type: Senior consulting role with responsibility for client development, opportunity identification, and revenue growth
  • Why Japan: Physical presence in Japan is critical to effectively engage decision makers and strengthen relationships that cannot be developed remotely
  • Key strengths for success: Strategic thinking, client leadership, global coordination, and commercial acumen

Qualifications

Essential

  • Significant experience in employee benefits consulting or a closely related advisory role, including work with multinational clients
  • Proven ability to lead client engagements and coordinate work across global or regional teams
  • Strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills
    Experience managing multiple projects, delivering quality work on time and within budget
  • Fluency in both English and Japanese (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex, international, and matrixed environment
  • Proficiency in standard business tools (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to travel as required

 

Desired

  • 10+ years of experience in global or regional employee benefits consulting
  • Experience contributing to revenue growth, account expansion, or business development
  • Experience leading large or complex global programs
  • Experience advising on global benefits strategy, governance, or Total Rewards
  • Demonstrated interest in mentoring and developing junior staff
  • Prior experience living or working overseas
