The WTW Pacific Intern Program is a structured, immersive experience designed for students to bridge the gap between academic study and professional practice in risk and analytics.
Program Structure & Eligibility
- Academic Status: This program is specifically designed for students in their final year of studies.
- Work-Study Balance: You will continue to complete your degree while simultaneously gaining practical experience working within our business.
- Duration & Commitment: The program runs for 6 months, requiring a commitment on average of 2–3 days per week.
- Employment Basis: Interns work on a casual basis, utilising a timesheet system to be paid for the specific hours worked (typically 2–3 days).
Day-to-Day Learning
- Direct Mentorship: You will work directly alongside Senior Risk Engineers, receiving hands-on on-the-job training and support.
- Core Tasks: The role involves a diverse range of administrative, project-based, and research-oriented tasks.
- Supportive Environment: You will work alongside experienced, committed, and supportive colleagues.
Career Pathway
- Future Opportunities: At the conclusion of the 6-month term, there may be an opportunity to transition into a permanent position with the firm, depending on current business openings.
Position Overview
- Role: Intern - Risk Engineering
- Location: Sydney
- Duration: 6 months, 2-3 days per week
- Reporting To: Senior Risk Engineers
Core Responsibilities
The Intern will support the Risk and Analytics team with key tasks:
- Support risk engineering surveys through data capture and documentation (COPE: Construction, Occupancy, Protection, Exposure)
- Assist with preparation and formatting of risk engineering reports and risk assessments, ensuring clarity and consistency
- Conduct research and analysis on property, operational, and natural hazard risks, with a focus on identifying loss drivers and improvement opportunities
- Assist with project coordination and administrative tasks across multiple engagements
- Work closely with senior engineers, with exposure to insurer and underwriting considerations through risk assessments and reporting
- Engage with construction and broking teams where relevant to support broader client outcomes

Qualifications
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Final year student in Engineering (all disciplines considered) or a related field
- Strong attention to detail and structured problem-solving skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage time effectively across study and work commitments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Interest in applied, practical engineering within property risk, insurance, or consulting environments
