Mahi Kayal joined WTW in India as a graduate, drawn by the opportunity to build a strong foundation through structured learning, actuarial exam support and guidance from experienced colleagues. From the start, it felt like an environment where she could develop his skills and grow his career.

Learning from day one

Starting out, Mahi experienced a steep learning curve, with new concepts and ways of working to absorb. Over time, she has taken on more responsibility, moving from working closely with senior colleagues to managing tasks more independently and contributing more to projects.

This progression has helped her build confidence while continuing to strengthen her technical understanding.

Variety that keeps the role engaging

One of the things Mahi values most is the variety in her work. She says, “I really enjoy the variety of work, no two projects feel the same.” Exposure to different clients and types of projects means the work remains engaging and stimulating. She also values the opportunity to carry out in-depth technical work and interact directly with clients.

Learning every step of the way

Support and collaboration have been a consistent part of Mahi’s experience. From structured training materials and recorded sessions to guidance from colleagues, she has been able to build his knowledge while navigating new challenges.

WTW has also supported her actuarial exam journey through study leave, resources and work that aligns closely with the exam syllabus, helping reinforce her learning in a practical way.

Building confidence through challenges

Managing workload and pace has been one of the more challenging aspects of the role. Over time, Mahi has developed stronger prioritisation and time management skills, learning how to balance multiple deliverables while maintaining quality.

The team's collaborative culture and openness to sharing knowledge made even the busiest periods easier to navigate.

Staying curious as you grow

One of the key lessons Mahi has taken from her experience is the importance of curiosity. Being open to learning, asking questions and not being afraid to seek help has played a big role in his development.

“No one has all the answers, and it’s completely okay not to know something, what matters is asking the right questions and being willing to learn.”, says Mahi.
