About the Team:

 

The Core Analytics-MATLAB team creates claims reporting tools & provides non actuarial loss data analytics across several Lines of Business, predominantly Workers’ Compensation. This is a 21-member team with a mix of skillsets that enable us to automate reports using advanced Excel features as well as VBA coding. We create interactive models in Power BI/ R for benchmarking that pull in data from various sources & make them available for use to the stakeholders/clients. We also create actuarial sound models using MATLAB & R

An opportunity exists for an Analyst to support consulting teams based in the United States by enabling benchmarking and analytical activities. The primary objective of this role is to support and coordinate administrative and project management‑related activities, enabling consultants to deliver client requirements efficiently. The role involves regular interaction with members of the client management team.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret loss run data and claim-related placement data to assess data availability for analytical reporting
  • Identify data gaps or inconsistencies and engage with relevant stakeholders to obtain clarification or additional information required for reporting
  • Cleanse raw data in accordance with defined standard operating procedures
  • Automate data processing and reporting workflows using Python programming and Server Integration Services
  • Standardized datasets to enable flexible analysis and reporting across multiple dimensions
  • Develop standard and customized analytical models using Microsoft Power Business Intelligence
  • Apply advanced Microsoft Excel functionality, including slicers, nested formulas, and macros, to generate dynamic charts and reports aligned to policy years, including automated output where required
  • Design automated standard and customized templates to reduce manual effort, minimize errors, and improve turnaround times

Qualifications

Skills

  • Experience in developing dashboards using data visualization tools, including Microsoft Power Business Intelligence
  • Experience using advanced Microsoft Excel functionality, including complex formulas, macros, and Visual Basic for Applications
  • Working experience with Python programming & Structured Query Language for data processing and automation
  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Science, or Technology, or progress toward Chartered Insurance Institute certification, which is considered an advantage
  • Demonstrates clear and effective verbal and written communication

  • Proficiency in reviewing, interpreting, and comprehending detailed information accurately
  • Analytical approach to problem identification and solution development
  • Experience collaborating effectively within team environments while meeting defined quality standards and delivery timelines
