When Ridam Hazra joined WTW in India as a fresh college graduate, he was stepping into an unfamiliar world of corporate life and software development. Like many graduates, there was some nervousness about making the transition from university to work. What stood out immediately, however, was the help he received from senior colleagues. Their guidance, encouragement and willingness to invest time in his development helped make the move into professional life both smooth and rewarding.

Building skills through continuous learning

Now a Software Engineering Analyst, Ridam’s role has evolved significantly since those early days. He began by learning the codebase and contributing to smaller tasks, gradually taking on greater ownership across the product development lifecycle. Today, his work spans technical analysis, proof-of-concept development, production delivery, and ongoing monitoring, while also exploring emerging technologies such as Agentic AI and how they can be integrated into existing business workflows.

Throughout his three years with us, one thing has remained constant: the opportunity to learn. “Not a single day has passed without a new learning opportunity, whether in technology or business processes. This continuous growth has made my journey here a truly enriching experience.”

Developing beyond technical expertise

As his responsibilities have increased, so too has the complexity of his work. Balancing the delivery of reliable, production-ready solutions while exploring new technologies requires adaptability, curiosity, and a willingness to keep learning. Along the way, Ridam discovered that professional growth extends beyond technical skills alone.

One of the most valuable lessons from his journey has been understanding the importance of communication, collaboration, and asking questions. While technical knowledge provided the foundation, building relationships, understanding business needs and seeking support when needed have been equally important in creating meaningful impact.

The power of mentorship

Mentorship has played a central role in Ridam’s journey. Senior colleagues helped bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application, offering guidance on everything from technical challenges to business problem-solving. Their support gave him the confidence to take on new responsibilities, step outside his comfort zone, and continue progressing in his career.

Reflecting on his experience, Ridam says that graduates should “embrace every opportunity with an open mind and a willingness to learn. WTW offers a fantastic environment where you are exposed to both cutting-edge technology and complex business challenges from day one. Do not hesitate to ask questions, engage with your seniors and step outside your comfort zone.”
