Andre Lim joined WTW’s Graduate Program, in Singapore, looking for a role that offered the right balance of technical learning and real responsibility from day one. Now a Broker in WTW’s FINEX team, Andre works across Directors and Officers, Professional Indemnity, Cyber and Crime, supporting clients in fast-evolving and complex risk areas.

Why Andre chose WTW

Andre was drawn to WTW’s Graduate Program because it combines structured learning with early exposure to real client work. The opportunity to build expertise in Financial Lines was a key motivator for Andre, particularly given how quickly these areas are evolving through new regulations, emerging cyber threats and technological shifts. He was also drawn to the culture, particularly the emphasis on curiosity, initiative and fresh thinking, and wanted to start his career in an environment where he could contribute meaningfully and build confidence from the start.

Feeling supported and trusted from day one

What surprised Andre most when he joined our team was how open and accessible colleagues were, regardless of seniority. He didn’t expect to have opportunities to share ideas so early on or to present to colleagues across Asia on the topic of AI within his first six months. The willingness of his teammates to listen, make time for discussions and share their perspectives made it easy for him to learn, build confidence and integrate the team.

Growing into his role in FINEX

Andre began his work on focusing on the fundamentals, including policy wordings, underwriting considerations and how different coverages respond to real scenarios. As his understanding developed, he started taking on more responsibility and engaging more independently with underwriters. Today, he analyzes client risk profiles, prepares submissions, negotiates with insurers and coordinates closely with clients, underwriters and internal teams. He is also involved in Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and regularly discusses coverage structures, pricing and risk improvements to help achieve the best outcomes for clients.

Staying curious in a changing risk landscape

What Andre enjoys most about his role is the variety and intellectual challenge. Every client has a different risk profile shaped by their industry, structure and emerging exposures such as cyber and AI related risks. He also values speaking with senior leaders including CEOs, CFOs and CROs, which gives him insight into how organizations approach risk at a strategic level. Staying ahead of rapidly evolving risks, particularly in Cyber, is one of the most challenging aspects of the role. Regulations, threats and insurer appetites change quickly, making it essential to stay informed, but this fast-moving environment is also what keeps the work engaging.

A career that moves your knowledge to expertise

WTW supported Andre through his SCI exams, enabling him to obtain his broking license in September 2025 and continues to support further professional development such as the Associateship of the Chartered Insurance Institute diploma. Alongside formal qualifications, Andre values day-to-day mentorship where senior colleagues explain underwriting logic, walk through real case examples and share practical insights.
His advice to future graduates is to be proactive, stay engaged and don’t hesitate to contribute ideas. WTW values fresh perspectives, especially as cyber technology driven risks and digital transformation continue to reshape the industry.
