Description
This role is responsible for leading the Bid Management team in Asia, which is tasked with managing the production of business proposals and tenders inside WTW Asia’s corporate risk and broking division.
The Head of Bid Management is a critical position in supporting the wider sales and large account strategy of WTW and will be responsible for setting standards of excellence in terms of how WTW’s value proposition is represented to existing and future clients, throughout their engagement with WTW.
The Head of Bid Management will be responsible for recruiting, managing and training the team of bid managers and graphic designers in Asia as well as linking in with the global bid management community.
The Head of Bid Management will also have a hands on bid management role, given that the successful candidate will manage large and complex opportunities, ensuring the timely production of tender responses and worki collaboratively with technical experts and specialists from around the business to ensure successful WTW proposals. As part of this, they will be tasked with project managing, writing, editing and reviewing content, presentations and reports; ensuring the proposals are of an exceptional standard, delivered on time and on brand.
The Role
- Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, Asia for Corporate Risk and Broking in Asia
- Overall responsibility and accountability for the Bid Management function within CRB Asia
- Responsible for setting exceptional standards of quality and putting in place systems and processes which ensure success around future large and complex new business opportunities
- Managing and personally supporting the workload of the bid team across Asia to support on all large new business opportunities, in excess of the internal revenue threshold
- Embedding AI within the Bid Management function to optimise performance and enhance client materials
- Training and upskilling the bid management team as well as recruiting additional talent, as required
- Training and upskilling the wider business on the latest WTW sales materials and Bid Management processes
- Supporting the sales and large account functions with end to end new business support including but not limited to discovery meetings, workshops, pitches and RFP responses
- Supporting associated internal initiatives such as pricing discussions on particular accounts and go-no-do decisions on new business opportunities
- Maintaining a philosophy of continuous improvement by facilitating ongoing adjustments to improve the WTW tender process and ensure our proposals are of a market leading standard
- Project management of tender responses including, liaising with relevant stakeholders to obtain the information required and following up to ensure responses are received on time, along with sufficient quality of responses
- Reviewing RFP documents to ensure specifications and submission requirements are clearly understood
- Leading tender “kick-off” meetings and follow up meetings, as appropriate
- Preparing the tender framework response documents including populating standard information and developing graphics to illustrate concepts
- Working with business subject matter experts to write bespoke responses clearly articulating our strategy and value
- Reviewing and editing content provided by stakeholders to ensure understanding and consistency of tone
- Assisting in the preparation of presentation materials for tender presentations
- Curating a tender and tender assets library containing current and archived tenders and assets required for submissions
- Contributing to a high performance culture within the business by consistently setting high standards of personal conduct and ensuring flawless delivery and consistently excellent performance from the bid team
Qualifications
- At least 5 year’s bid management experience in the insurance industry
- Educated to a tertiary level
- Experience of working on multiple large and complex projects at the same time and with a number of different teams
- Strong project management skills, able to manage time effectively and delegate where relevant
