Some career moves take you into a new role. Others take you into a new country, a new team and an entirely new perspective on what's possible.

For Millie, Regional Consultant, Health & Benefits, Asia Pacific, the journey from Bangkok to Singapore was more than a relocation. It was an opportunity to grow across functions, expand new skills and discover how career development can take unexpected and rewarding turns.

 Building a career through opportunity

When Millie joined the business in Bangkok, she began her career in Sales Operations, supporting teams and helping the business achieve its goals. At the time, she never imagined that her career path would eventually lead her across borders and into a completely different area of the organization.

Over the years, she transitioned twice, moving from a local role to a regional position with broader responsibilities and exposure to new markets, stakeholders and business challenges.

"My manager played a significant role in supporting my development, encouraging me to explore new opportunities and helping me align my personal career aspirations with the needs of the business."

That encouragement gave Millie the confidence to continue developing her skills while pursuing areas that challenged and inspired her. The balance between achieving business objectives and individual ambition created an environment where development felt both possible and encouraged.

Taking a leap into something new

As her experience grew, so did her curiosity about what might come next.

Millie wanted to broaden her perspective, work more closely with clients and gain a deeper understanding of how solutions create value for customers. When an opportunity arose to relocate to Singapore, it felt like the right moment to challenge herself. The move represented more than a new location. It also meant stepping into a new team, a new function and a new way of working.

Today, Millie is part of the Health & Benefits team in Singapore. Her career has evolved from supporting internal business operations, to work directly with clients to help them navigate employee benefits programs and benefits strategies.

More than a relocation

Millie’s journey reflects a culture that encourages people to explore new opportunities without leaving the organization. She has progressed from a local role to a regional role, expanded her business knowledge and ultimately moved into an entirely new career path within Health & Benefits.

Just as important as the opportunity itself was the support she received after arriving in Singapore. Colleagues welcomed her into the team, shared their knowledge and helped her build confidence in a new role and market. Beyond work, they also made a genuine effort to help her settle into life in a new country through team lunches, dinners and social activities that helped Singapore quickly feel like home.

Looking back, Millie says “My journey is proof that within our company, careers are not defined by geography, job titles, or functions. They're shaped by curiosity, ambition, and the opportunities we create for one another.

Together, these experiences have shown me what our culture truly means. Internal mobility is more than moving between roles or locations. It's about having leaders who invest in your development, colleagues who make you feel welcome, and an organization that creates opportunities for people to grow across functions, teams, and borders.

I am grateful for the managers, colleagues, and teams who supported me along the way, and I'm excited to continue growing in my new role.”

Millie’s story shows that a career can take many paths. It can involve moving across countries, exploring new business areas, expanding your perspective and discovering approaches you never expected.
