Ashton’s apprenticeship journey at WTW

oct 9 2025

Ashton joined on our Level 4 Insurance Professional Apprenticeship in September 2024. He is based in Ipswich and works within our Marine team in Corporate Risk and Brooking. Just a year in and he’s already passed his third exam on his pathway to his Insurance Professional Qualification.

Making a meaningful impact

Day to day, Ashton works in Marine Cargo,  his role is all about guiding clients through the complex claims process. One standout example is an international aid account, with claims in challenging global locations like Gaza and Ukraine with these often relate to shipments of vital goods such as medical and food supplies. Ashton and his colleague help ensure these claims are paid swiftly, so the client can replace and resend essential cargo to people who need it most.

All kinds of opportunities

Ashton appreciates the varied and interesting opportunities he’s had since joining WTW: “I’ve had many fascinating opportunities, such as being able to travel to London to view the Lord Mayor's show with a senior colleague. I’ve also attended a few career events on behalf of WTW to encourage students to enter the insurance industry.”

When asked what he values most about working at WTW, Ashton highlights the outstanding workplace culture: “The supportive environment makes it easy to connect with colleagues and feel valued as part of the team. There’s real collaboration and inclusivity here, and I’ve loved the chance to travel to other offices and build professional relationships across regions.”
