People do their best work when they feel they belong. Across our organization, colleague-led communities help create connections, celebrate different perspectives and foster a culture where colleagues are empowered to bring their authentic self to work.
Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes the stories, cultures and contributions of Latino communities. It is a time to celebrate the experiences and perspectives that strengthen our workplaces.
The Latino/a/e Colleague Connection (LCC) is one of the ways WTW colleagues help bring that sense of belonging to life. Through cultural awareness and shared experiences, this community creates opportunities for connection across the organization.
We spoke to the co-leads of the LCC in North America, Jesus Flores-Komiyama and Adelaida Campos Valle, and to a member of the LCC community, Miguel Suarez, about how it fosters connection, celebrates culture and strengthens a sense of belonging.
Creating spaces where everyone is welcome
The Latino/a/e Colleague Connection launched across North America in 2026, bringing together colleagues from all business areas, locations and career stages.
This community is part of the Multicultural Inclusion Network and is open to all WTW colleagues, helping create broader understanding across the organization.
For Jesus and Adelaida, the motivation behind LCC was simple: create a space where colleagues can share experiences and celebrate culture.
"We wanted a place where people could connect beyond geography, job function or background," Adelaida explains.
"There was already interest and engagement happening across different groups. The LCC provides a way to bring that together and create opportunities for even more colleagues to participate."
Since launching, the LCC has hosted quarterly gatherings where colleagues share cultural traditions, favorite foods, personal stories and experiences.
Conversations have ranged from celebrating global sporting events to exploring cultural moments and their significance within Hispanic communities.
These events have attracted Latino colleagues as well as allies interested in learning more and for those looking to create stronger bonds within the workplace.
Miguel, one of the colleagues that participated in these conversations shares: "It helps me to remember why I work hard and how my background can provide value for all the colleagues I work with here".
What belonging looks like at WTW
For both leaders of the LCC community, belonging is not defined by a single initiative. Instead, it is reflected in everyday experiences and interactions.
Adelaida, who joined the company more than two decades ago, still remembers the support she received when relocating from Mexico to Los Angeles.
"I arrived knowing very few people, but colleagues immediately welcomed me. They invited me into their communities and included me in their lives. That support made a tremendous difference," she says.
Jesus shares a similar perspective. When interviewing for an internship nearly two decades ago, seeing professionals with similar backgrounds succeeding at the company gave him confidence that he could build a future here as well.
"It made a huge difference to see people who looked like me, spoke like me and were building successful careers. It gave me a sense that I belonged here from the beginning."
Through WTW's networks and relationships across offices, Jesus was given the opportunity to work with a Puerto Rican client and present in Spanish, allowing him to combine his professional expertise with an important part of his identity.
"It was rewarding to be trusted with that opportunity and to use my language skills in a way that added value for the client," he says.
Miguel also experienced that sense of belonging through opportunities to share his culture with colleagues.
“I felt a sense of belonging when we celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month and I had the opportunity to share traditional Colombian dishes and culture with other colleagues. It helped me feel that this part of who I am was appreciated.”
Bringing your authentic self to work
For many candidates, finding a workplace where they can be themselves is an important consideration when exploring career opportunities.
Whether through mentoring, recruiting, volunteering or community organizations, Adelaida, Jesus and Miguel have found opportunities to make an impact while developing important relationships across the business.
"WTW gives people opportunities to get involved and contribute in ways that go beyond their job description," says Jesus.
"You can raise your hand, participate and help create positive experiences for others."
For Adelaida, that support has helped shape a career spanning more than 22 years.
"There are many opportunities here, not only to grow professionally but also to invest time and energy into things you're passionate about. That's one of the reasons I've stayed," she says.
For Miguel, bringing his authentic self to work also means feeling comfortable sharing the different perspectives that shape who he is.
“Here I am simply a colleague with a distinct perspective that can contribute to any team I am part of.”
A culture built on sharing
The experiences shared by Jesus, Adelaida and Miguel highlight something that many colleagues value here: careers are built not only through the work we do, but also through the people and communities around us.
By creating spaces where colleagues can learn from one another and celebrate their unique backgrounds, the Latino/a/e Colleague Connection is helping strengthen a culture where more people feel seen, supported and valued.
As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we're grateful for the colleagues who are helping create those experiences every day and for the diverse perspectives that continue to enrich our workplace.
