When Thy Le joined our graduate program in Vietnam , she was eager to learn more about the insurance industry, particularly the broking sector. Joining our company gave her the opportunity to gain valuable insight into corporate risk and develop both technically and professionally in a global organization.

Reflecting on her decision to join, Thy says, "I was curious about the insurance industry, especially the broking segment. As one of the global insurance brokers, I knew I would gain deeper insight into corporate risk-based insurance."

Today, Thy is an Account Executive in WTW's Natural Resources team, where she supports clients across a specialist and highly technical sector. Looking back, joining the team initially felt daunting.

"At first, I did not know which team I would be assigned to," she explains. "After receiving the announcement that I belonged to the Natural Resources Team, I was surprisingly nervous."

Familiarizing with a new industry and mastering technical insurance concepts presented a steep learning curve, but with support from colleagues and a commitment to continuous development, she quickly built confidence in her role.

Knowledge from experience

One of the highlights of Thy's journey has been the opportunity to work alongside experienced colleagues and contribute to large-scale projects.

"Being part of the Natural Resources team is a golden chance that I truly appreciate," she says. "Everyone is talented, supportive and enthusiastic. They always lend me a hand when needed."

The collaborative culture within the team has enabled Thy to gain hands-on experience while expanding her technical knowledge.

"I have had the opportunity to be involved in several mega power plant projects to propose specific insurance programs that I never thought I would."

These experiences have provided valuable industry exposure and helped accelerate her professional development.

Growing through support

Mentorship has also played a key role in Thy's success at WTW."My mentors and colleagues were approachable and willing to answer questions. They provided guidance on both technical tasks and professional development. Their feedback helped me improve my work quality and gain confidence."

Alongside mentorship, she has found that proactive communication and strong teamwork are essential for managing workload and wellbeing. Maintaining open relationships with colleagues and taking short breaks throughout the day helps her stay focused and productive.

Advice for future interns

Reflecting on her experience, Thy believes that staying curious and open to learning is one of the most important factors for success.

"Do not be shy to ask questions since all of our colleagues are super talented and supportive," she says. "Be proactive in listening to senior colleagues' comments because they provide meaningful and valuable advice."

Her advice for graduates considering an early careers opportunity at WTW is simple: "Take every opportunity to learn. Build relationships with your colleagues to learn from their practical experience. Stay open-minded and embrace new challenges, even if they are not areas you were passionate about before."

She also highly recommends WTW for its professional and inclusive culture, valuable industry insight and opportunities for both technical and professional growth.
