Wen Shan Pang joined WTW’s Graduate Program seeking a structured environment where she could receive clear guidance, hands‑on exposure and opportunities to grow. Now part of the Risk and Analytics function within WTW Singapore’s Corporate Risk and Broking business, she focuses on climate‑related analytics and insights that help clients better understand and manage risk.
Choosing a place to build strong foundations
Wen Shan was drawn to WTW because of its strong reputation and the opportunity to build a solid foundation early in her career. She was looking for a graduate program that combined meaningful work with learning and mentorship, and our company stood out as a place where she could learn from industry experts while broadening her skill set. For Wen Shan, the program felt like the right environment to develop both technical capability and professional confidence.
Guidance from the start
One of the biggest surprises for Wen Shan was how genuinely supportive and approachable her colleagues and managers were. Everyone was willing to share knowledge, offer help and provide guidance whenever she had questions. Beyond the work itself, she also appreciated the welcoming office environment, even noting the variety of food options nearby as a small but positive part of settling into daily life at work.
Building insight through broader exposure.
Wen Shan currently works within the Climate Risk team, where she supports climate related modelling, analytics and insights for clients. Her role involves helping clients understand how climate risks may impact their portfolios and advising on ways to strengthen risk management and insurance strategies.
Since joining WTW, Wen Shan has had the opportunity to rotate across multiple areas, including Climate Risk and Strategic Risk Consulting, with more recent exposure to captive‑related work. These experiences have given her a broader view of how different teams within Risk and Analytics contribute to solving client challenges while helping her understand the end-to-end process of assessing risk and delivering solutions.
Work that evolves and keeps you actively looking for answers
What Wen Shan enjoys most about her role is the sense of purpose behind the work. The insights her team produces directly help clients in making more informed decisions in uncertain environments. She also values the collaborative nature of the work and enjoys partnering with colleagues across departments, which continues to broaden her knowledge.
Working across multiple teams can be challenging, particularly when managing different timelines, tools and methodologies. However, Wen Shan finds this challenge rewarding, as it pushes her to learn continuously and develop a more holistic perspective.
Learning through guidance and connection
WTW supported Wen Shan in attaining the Certification in General Insurance, which helped her better understand the broader insurance context behind her work. Regular weekly meetings, along with the buddy and mentorship programs, played an important role in helping her manage workload and maintain balance. Having experienced mentors available to offer clarity and insight made the learning process smoother and more encouraging.
Wen Shan’s advice to future graduates is to come in with a learning mindset. She believes WTW is an environment that values curiosity, encourages questions and gives graduates the space to build skills over time.
