Description

This role is an important client-facing member of the FINEX team, responsible for the coordinated delivery of high-quality advice, placement and service to sophisticated corporate clients. The role combines Financial Lines technical capability with strong client relationship management, executive communication, commercial judgement and ownership of significant aspects of client service delivery. The successful candidate understands each client’s business, strategy and risk environment; interprets how the insurance programme responds; presents advice clearly to senior stakeholders; coordinates WTW and insurer resources; and contributes to client retention, profitable growth and a consistent WTW client experience.

The Role

Client leadership and account ownership

  • Own the day-to-day management of assigned sophisticated FINEX accounts and remain accountable for the quality, coordination and outcome of the client experience.

  • Develop and maintain a current understanding of each client’s business model, corporate structure, strategy, financial position, geographic footprint, key stakeholders, risk profile, claims environment, insurance programme and material business developments.

  • Represent the voice of the client in decisions concerning service, process, programme strategy and future priorities; maintain an agreed service plan and obtain formal feedback for qualifying accounts.

  • Build trusted, credible relationships across multiple levels of the client, including Risk Managers, CFOs, General Counsel, Company Secretaries, Treasury teams, executives and Board stakeholders where appropriate.

  • Anticipate client requirements, identify emerging issues early, maintain clear action plans, manage expectations and competing priorities, follow through on commitments, and keep clients informed before they need to ask.

  • Recognise when an issue can be addressed independently, when specialist input is required and when escalation to a senior broker, Client Director or practice leader is necessary.

Client meetings, presentation and executive communication

  • Prepare thoroughly for client meetings, define the purpose and desired decisions, anticipate likely questions and ensure all contributors are aligned.

  • Actively participate in meetings and confidently present allocated sections of renewal presentations, programme reviews, market updates and recommendations.

  • Translate technical insurance information into a client-relevant narrative linking risk, exposure, insurance response, market considerations and the decision required, rather than relying only on policy, limit, premium and insurer data.

  • Explain complex Financial Lines concepts in clear commercial language, distinguish material issues from detail, tailor communication to the audience and facilitate informed client decisions.

  • Respond confidently to questions, communicate difficult or adverse market and coverage messages professionally, and accurately explain insurer positions, options, trade-offs and next steps.

  • Produce concise, accurate and well-structured reports, presentations, recommendations and correspondence suitable for senior stakeholders.

FINEX technical capability and advice

  • Apply strong working knowledge across relevant FINEX products, which may include Directors & Officers Liability, Management Liability, Professional Indemnity, Cyber, Crime, Employment Practices Liability, Statutory Liability, transactional or M&A-related insurance and other solutions relevant to the portfolio.

  • Analyse and explain programme structure, limits, retentions or excesses, key coverage features, exclusions, endorsements, insurer differences, claims considerations, market conditions, pricing movements and material renewal changes.

  • Identify material coverage, wording or programme issues, test assumptions and engage senior brokers, claims advocates, legal, analytics, industry or product specialists where deeper expertise is required.

  • Maintain current knowledge of Financial Lines products, market developments, insurer appetite, claims trends, regulatory change and emerging risks, and share relevant knowledge across the team.

Renewal and placement management

  • Lead the end-to-end coordination of assigned renewals so that the client experience is coherent, timely and professional.

  • Establish the renewal plan, strategy, milestones, responsibilities and decision points; analyse the expiring programme and identify information, coverage, pricing and market issues early.

  • Drive the quality and timely completion of underwriting submissions, exposure information, insurer engagement, quotation analysis, coverage comparisons, renewal reports, presentations and recommendation materials.

  • Coordinate WTW specialists and international colleagues, manage insurer interactions and negotiations within agreed authority, maintain disciplined market communication and escalate material issues promptly.

  • Ensure instructions, documentation, invoicing, settlements, client cash allocation, credit management, premium funding where appropriate, debtor collection and post-renewal actions are completed accurately and within agreed parameters.

  • Ensure all advice and documentation comply with WTW service, placement, quality, records-management and compliance requirements, the WTW Excellence Model, local regulation and applicable Tier 1 obligations.

Commercial contribution

  • Understand the economics of assigned accounts, including scope, revenue, remuneration, cost to serve and service commitments, and exercise sound judgement when prioritising client and internal resources.

  • Articulate WTW’s FINEX value proposition and connect specialist advice, global resources, claims advocacy, analytics and market capability to the client’s needs.

  • Contribute to retention and account-development strategies, identify additional FINEX or broader WTW needs through informed client dialogue, and support selected new-business and cross-selling opportunities without compromising advisory integrity.

  • Contribute to profitable account management, strong cash collection and sustainable portfolio growth.

Leadership through ownership

  • Coordinate the account team, allocate work appropriately, establish clear responsibilities and deadlines, maintain accountability and ensure deliverables are accurate and complete.

  • Influence colleagues, specialists and insurers without relying on formal authority, resolve delivery issues and escalate barriers that may affect client outcomes.

  • Support the development of junior colleagues through clear direction, constructive feedback, knowledge sharing and role modelling.

  • Collaborate locally and internationally, leverage WTW best practice and contribute to an inclusive, accountable and high-performance FINEX culture.

Professional standards and WTW representation

  • Represent WTW credibly and professionally with clients, insurers and senior stakeholders, demonstrating responsiveness, accuracy, ownership, confidentiality, commercial judgement and attention to detail.

  • Challenge constructively where this improves outcomes, act consistently with WTW values and protect the integrity and consistency of the client experience.

Qualifications

Qualifications and experience

  • Qualifications, or equivalent competency, meeting applicable Australian financial services Tier 1 requirements, or willingness and capacity to complete them.

  • Substantial Financial Lines insurance broking, underwriting, legal, claims, risk or relevant industry experience appropriate to the complexity of the assigned portfolio.

  • Strong practical capability in policy coverage, wording review, programme design, market engagement, renewal analysis and client advice.
