Description

The Marine Cargo Broker supports the day-to-day operations of the Marine Cargo team, assisting with client servicing, insurance placements, renewals, documentation, compliance activities, and system administration. Working closely with brokers, clients, and insurance markets, the role helps deliver timely, accurate, and high-quality outcomes throughout the placement lifecycle.

The Role

Key Responsibilities:

Account Servicing & Placement Support

  • Support new business and renewal placements from submission through binding.
  • Gather and review risk information and prepare market submissions.
  • Liaise with clients and insurers to obtain information and manage outstanding requirements.
  • Assist with quotation comparisons, placement documentation, and presentation of terms.
  • Monitor placement activities and escalate complex issues when required.

 

Documentation & Administration

  • Coordinate issuance of policies, endorsements, and related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate account, policy, and placement records.
  • Track outstanding documentation and ensure timely delivery to clients.
  • Support account administration, invoicing activities, and resolution of account queries.

 

Compliance & Systems Management

  • Complete required compliance and placement procedures, including market security, sanctions, and internal controls.
  • Upload and maintain documentation in company systems, including ECLIPSE.
  • Ensure accurate system data entry and support data quality initiatives.
  • Escalate compliance concerns and maintain confidentiality of client information.

 

New Business & Renewal Coordination

  • Support brokers throughout renewal and new business cycles.
  • Maintain renewal schedules and collect underwriting information.
  • Coordinate meetings, proposals, and follow-up actions.
  • Assist with RFP responses and placement strategy discussions.

 

Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, insurers, brokers, and colleagues.
  • Provide timely updates on placement progress and outstanding actions.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, client-focused team environment.

 

 

Qualifications

The Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of insurance experience, ideally in Marine Cargo, Marine, Transportation, Logistics, or Commercial Insurance.
  • Experience supporting renewals, new business placements, market submissions, and policy documentation.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently while collaborating with a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in leveraging approved AI-enabled and digital tools to improve productivity, workflow efficiency, knowledge sharing, and client outcomes.
  • Sound judgment in evaluating AI-generated outputs for accuracy, relevance, compliance, and business impact.
  • Understanding of Responsible AI principles, including data privacy, information security, transparency, risk management, and ethical AI use.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, emerging technologies, and AI adoption initiatives.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting Marine Cargo insurance placements.
  • Knowledge of Marine Cargo coverage, documentation, and cargo-related exposures.
  • Experience interacting with insurance markets and commercial clients.
  • Familiarity with ECLIPSE or similar broking systems.
  • Understanding of insurance compliance and placement procedures.
  • Relevant insurance license or professional designation, where applicable.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that base salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation.

 

Compensation

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $90,000 - $115,000 USD per year.

This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
