Description
Neuron is seeking a highly capable Senior Technical Product Owner to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our platform’s architectural, data and technical resilience. This role bridges the gap between rapid product delivery and long-term technical sustainability. You will lead the definition and prioritisation of Data and Architecture roadmaps, technical debt remediation, and engineering resilience initiatives. Working closely with engineering leadership, DevOps, Security, and product teams, you will ensure alignment across all workstreams and create transparency to support strategic decision-making at the executive level.
As the Senior Technical Product Owner, you will be central figure coordinating the incremental progress of multiple technology initiatives, ensuring the Neuron platform remains scalable, secure, and observable. Your role is to bring clarity, alignment, and prioritisation across all technical workstreams, balancing long-term platform health with immediate product delivery needs.
- Define and drive Data and Architecture roadmaps aligned with product and service delivery.
- Support principal engineers in documenting and prioritising engineering resilience initiatives.
- Collaborate with DevOps to balance security, SRE, and operational improvements alongside development capacity.
- Own visibility and prioritisation of technical debt, legacy bugs, and customer change requests, integrating these into sprint planning.
- Provide transparency across technical workstreams to ensure balanced prioritisation between engineering and client-facing product owners.
- Prepare proposals and value analyses to guide board-level prioritisation and investment decisions.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to maintain alignment on technical goals and delivery expectations.
- Advocate for continuous improvement in Agile delivery practices focused on quality and predictability.
The Requirements
Critical
- 5+ years’ experience as a Technical Product Owner, ideally within fast-paced startups or scale-ups.
- Strong technical background with hands-on understanding of software architecture, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, DevOps, and CI/CD.
- Proven track record in managing technical debt and leading architectural transformation initiatives.
- Experience working closely with engineering teams to prioritise and deliver resilience, security, and operational improvements.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, able to present technical concepts and value propositions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Comfortable working in environments with competing priorities and rapidly evolving requirements.
- Experience in Insurtech, fintech, or highly regulated industries.
- Agile practitioner with experience running Scrum ceremonies and backlog management. Relevant certifications (e.g., CSPO, SAFe POPM) are a plus
- Familiarity with SRE principles and security compliance frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership and contribute to strategic planning.
- Experience mentoring junior POs or leading product teams.
- Core Tools: MuleSoft, REST APIs, MongoDB.
- Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS, Azure, Terraform, Kubernetes
- Delivered a clear and actionable Data and Architecture roadmap, aligned with both the product vision and long-term platform health goals.
- Retired key areas of technical debt, replacing reactive fixes with proactive architectural improvements.
- Engineering, DevOps, and Product stakeholders operate from a shared, prioritised technical backlog that balances immediate delivery with foundational work.
- Established predictable communication rhythms (dashboards, reports, or demos) that give leadership and teams real-time visibility into technical initiatives.
- Partnering with Principal Engineers and DevOps, you’ve implemented a resilience and reliability roadmap, including measurable improvements in incident response times, deployment frequency, and system observability.
Security and compliance requirements are embedded in delivery, not treated as afterthoughts.
The backlog reflects a healthy balance of customer-driven, technical, and operational work, visible to all stakeholders.
You’re a trusted advisor to both engineering leadership and senior business stakeholders, influencing long-term investment and roadmap decisions.
