About the Team

A Health & Benefits Sales Consultant partners with Sales and Client Retention teams to design, implement, and optimize employee benefits programs (primarily Group Health, Life, and Accident insurance). The role focuses on delivering strategic advisory, analytics-driven insights, and client engagement support to enhance client value, improve retention, and support new business growth.

Responsibilities

1. Client Advisory & Consulting

  • Provide expert guidance on group medical, group personal accident, group term life, and wellness solutions 

  • Support clients in benefit design, benchmarking, and cost optimization 

  • Interpret claims data to recommend risk management and cost containment strategies 

  • Align benefit strategy with talent, wellbeing, and financial objectives 

 

2. Sales Enablement Support

  • Work with Sales teams in prospect discussions and RFP presentations 

  • Develop value propositions, pitch decks, and technical content 

  • Provide insights on market trends, insurer capabilities, and pricing benchmarks 

  • Support solution structuring for new client acquisition 

 

3. Client Retention & Relationship Management

  • Partner with Retention teams for renewal strategy and negotiations 

  • Identify opportunities for benefit enhancements and program improvements 

  • Deliver periodic performance reviews, claims analytics, and utilization insights 

  • Ensure consistent client engagement and service differentiation 

 

4. Data Analytics & Insights

  • Analyse claims experience and utilization trends 

  • Identify cost drivers and high-impact intervention areas 

  • Build dashboards and reports to support decision making 

  • Track KPIs such as loss ratios, claims frequency, severity, and wellness engagement 

 

5. Market Intelligence & Innovation

  • Track developments in IRDAI regulations, insurer products, and healthcare trends 

  • Evaluate digital health, wellness, and employee engagement solutions 

  • Recommend innovative offerings such as: 

  • OPD programs 

  • Telemedicine 

  • Mental wellness support 

  • Preventive health initiatives 

 

6. Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with: Sales team , Account management / retention team , Insurers and TPAs , Wellness partners, Analytics teams etc.

  • Ensure seamless execution of placement and post-placement activities

Qualifications

  • MBA/ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in related field

  • 4-15 years’ experience in health and benefits sales.

  • Demonstrated achievement in B2B sales.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including facilitation of group presentations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and 

  • Access and industry-specific analysis software.

  • Basic understanding of the insurance industry, with the ability to become a subject matter expert on the job.

  • Innovation and problem-solving skills that include the ability to develop and propose equipment-based solutions for clients.
