About the Team
Facultative Reinsurance is responsible for leading and growing the facultative reinsurance portfolio across property, casualty, specialty, and financial lines. The role involves strategic client advisory, complex risk placement, reinsurer relationship management, and team leadership, while ensuring best‑in‑class coverage solutions, compliance, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Client Advisory & Business Development
- Act as a senior advisor to large and complex clients on facultative reinsurance solutions, coverage structures, limits, and pricing
- Partner with direct insurance broking teams to support new business acquisition, client retention, and cross‑sell opportunities
- Lead client meetings, renewals, and placement strategy discussions for high‑value and technically complex risks
- Support negotiations with underwriters and senior reinsurer stakeholders to secure optimal terms
Facultative Placement & Technical Leadership
- Oversee end‑to‑end facultative placement across property, engineering, liability, marine, specialty, and emerging risks
- Design and review slips, wordings, layers, deductibles, limits, and clauses to ensure risk adequacy and contract certainty
- Provide technical oversight on large loss‑exposed risks, unconventional structures, and specialty placements
- Monitor market capacity, pricing trends, and reinsurer appetites across global markets
Reinsurer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international reinsurers, Lloyd’s syndicates, and MGAs
- Represent the firm in market meetings, reinsurer visits, and regional/international conferences
- Drive strategic engagement with reinsurers to enhance capacity access and preferential terms
Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead, mentor, and develop facultative reinsurance managers and associates
- Ensure quality control, adherence to processes, and consistent placement standards
- Support succession planning, performance management, and skills development within the team
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with IRDAI regulations, internal policies, and global broking standards
- Review documentation timelines, premium collection, bordereaux, and policy issuance practices
- Partner with finance, claims, and compliance teams to ensure smooth post‑placement servicing

Qualifications
- 12–18+ years of experience in facultative reinsurance, with a significant tenure in an insurance broking environment
- Strong exposure to property, casualty, specialty, and large corporate risks
- Proven experience handling complex, high‑value facultative placements
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and client relationships
