Chuck Parnow recently retired after an impressive 40+ years in Benefits and Consulting—21 of which were spent with WTW—his story is one of dedication, growth, and lasting impact. His reflections on his journey provide a powerful reminder of the value of passion, mentorship, and the relationships that shape our careers.
A career built on challenges and connections
Chuck’s journey with WTW began with a clear vision: to bridge operations and client consulting as a retirement actuary. His role expanded into a vast array of projects across several Lines of Business (LOBs) and functions.
Over the course of his 21 years, he traveled to offices in over three dozen cities and eight different countries—a far cry from his humble beginnings in New Jersey, where he never lived more than 25 miles from his childhood home.
Yet, Chuck's growth was not only due to the opportunities at WTW but also the nurturing environment and the support of mentors and people managers throughout his career. These relationships, he says, were essential to his ability to tackle new challenges and grow beyond his initial role.

The true joy of work: people and personal growth
Chuck is quick to point out that the real satisfaction from his work didn’t come from solving complex puzzles or taking on high-profile projects, although those were certainly fulfilling. Instead, it was always about the people. "I will truly miss being able to work with you all and interacting on a day-to-day basis," he says. The personal connections he formed throughout his career at WTW have left a lasting impression and remain the most rewarding aspect of his time with the company.
For Chuck, the atmosphere at WTW was a great environment for personal growth. He watched as new colleagues embraced opportunities, took on new challenges, and strived to continuously learn. His advice to those still with the company? “The best jobs are the ones where you are always moving, striving, and testing yourself.” He encourages everyone to ensure that those they mentor are equally challenged, so they too can grow and thrive.

Embracing the next chapter
As Chuck steps into his retirement, he leaves behind a legacy of hard work and positive influence. While he’s excited for the next chapter—filled with plans for hiking, vintage car shows, poker tournaments, and more. He looks forward to seeing how WTW continues to evolve in the virtual future, confident that the energy, challenges, and fresh thinking that have always defined the company will continue to drive success.
A legacy of hard work and care
Chuck’s final message is one that resonates deeply:“Be well, work hard (it keeps you young), and take care of yourselves and each other!”
As we bid Chuck farewell, we celebrate his incredible contributions to WTW. His story serves as a reminder that success is not just about achieving personal milestones but about the relationships, growth, and care we give and receive along the way. Thank you, Chuck, for your dedication and all the ways you’ve made WTW a better place.
