What does it take to build a thriving career that spans over 15 years at the same company? For Sarah Mazur, Senior Pharmacy Consultant, it’s a mix of curiosity, determination, and an incredible team to lean on.
We sat down with Sarah to hear her story—from her start at WTW as a college senior to becoming a leader in the pharmacy team, breaking barriers, and growing alongside her colleagues.
From Penn State to WTW: A full-circle moment
Sarah’s WTW journey began in 2009 when she interviewed on campus at Penn State. “I signed my letter of intent in October of my senior year, so my final semester was a lot less stressful knowing I had a full-time job waiting for me,” she recalls.
She joined the Health & Benefits (H&B) team, initially working on dental, vision, and health renewals. Her background as a certified pharmacy technician led to a unique path in the Pharmacy team within WTW.

Carving a new path in pharmacy
“When I started, we didn’t even have a pharmacy project manager role—it wasn’t a thing,” Sarah explains. As her team learned about her pharmacy background, she was connected with WTW’s pharmacy practice leader at the time. With the mentorship, Sarah became the pharmacy project manager for the entire East region in the United States.
“It was a small team back then. I handled all the pharmacy project manager work for the East, while there were only two other project managers for the Midwest and West regions. Today, it’s hard to imagine just three people covering that much ground because our team has grown so much!”

“It’s not just about ambition; it’s about having people around you who are willing to teach and help you grow”
A culture of collaboration and support
Sarah credits much of her success to the incredible team she’s been part of over the years.
Leaders like Katie Asch, now the US Consulting Pharmacy Practice Leader, and Heidi Anetsberger-Daniels, Midwest pharmacy region lead, were instrumental in shaping Sarah’s career. “I learned by asking questions. Watching them excel made me think, ‘If they can do it, why can’t I?’”
That spirit of collaboration is still alive today, as Sarah helps onboard new team members and ensures they have the tools to succeed. “Our focus has always been on helping each other grow—and that’s what makes this team so special.”
Breaking perceptions: Redefining what’s possible
One of Sarah’s proudest achievements has been breaking the misconception that only pharmacists can succeed in pharmacy consulting roles. “I was one of the first pharmacy consultants who wasn’t a pharmacist,” she explains.
Over the years, she’s taken on leadership roles, including being the pharmacy practice liaison for the Global Delivery Center (GDC) and serving as an executive sponsor for the Specialty Innovation Hub within the pharmacy practice. “That perception that you have to be a pharmacist to grow in this field? We’ve shattered it,” she says.
The Pharmacy Team today: A thriving community
What started as a small, specialized group has grown into a robust and thriving practice. “When I started, there were just a handful of us. Now, we have more than 100 colleagues dedicated to prescription benefits,” Sarah shares.
This growth is a testament to the team’s impact and the opportunities WTW provides for its people. “We’ve built something incredible together, and it’s exciting to see how far we’ve come.”
WTW Culture: opportunity and growth
After 15 years, what keeps Sarah so committed to WTW? “It’s the opportunity for growth and the people,” she says. “WTW gives you the chance to challenge perceptions, grow your career in unexpected ways, and be part of a team that truly supports you.”
Sarah’s journey is more than a career story—it’s proof of what’s possible when you combine determination, curiosity, and the power of teamwork. For anyone looking to break barriers, Sarah’s advice is simple: “Ask questions, lean on your team, and never stop learning. At WTW, the opportunities are limitless.”
