Description
The Role
This role will execute design across a multi-phase digital platform, translating complex B2B2C financial concepts into intuitive, confidence-building experiences. You will work hands-on within a simultaneous design-and-build model alongside Product and Engineering, using generative AI tools and strong prompt-writing skills to rapidly produce interactive prototypes under the direction of the Design Director. The role also involves presenting work regularly to a senior stakeholder group and incorporating feedback with speed and precision.
The Requirements
Rapidly produce high-fidelity screens, flows, and interactive prototypes using whatever tools get you there fastest — Figma, generative AI, code-based prototyping, or all of the above. We care about the quality and speed of your output, not your tool allegiance. Strong prompt-writing skills and fluency with AI-assisted design workflows are expected.
Translate complex financial and regulatory concepts into clear interaction models, information architecture, and visual design that prioritize emotional clarity over informational density.
Present design work to senior stakeholders in structured critique sessions; articulate design rationale, receive directional feedback, and turn critique into refined execution within short feedback loops.
Take ownership of existing designs and core flows created by external UX partners; assess, refine, and ensure successful internal implementation aligned to the evolving product direction.
Produce build-ready design specifications, interactive prototypes, and implementation guidance using the current toolchain (Figma, Cursor, GitHub, Storybook).
Contribute to building and maintaining a design system grounded in existing visual direction, ensuring consistency and scalability across the product.
Collaborate directly with front-end engineering to clarify design intent, unblock delivery, and ensure fidelity between design specifications and implemented experience.
Drive experience quality across responsiveness, cross-browser compatibility, and multi-device optimization.
Embed accessibility practices into design and delivery, partnering with developers to ensure compliant implementation.
Participate in pragmatic testing and feedback loops with internal stakeholders; use insights to iterate on high-impact decision points, moments of complexity, and trust-critical interactions.
Qualifications
The Requirements
8+ years of product design experience delivering enterprise or consumer-facing web applications, with a track record of high-volume, high-quality output; experience in fintech, insurance, or regulated domains strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to take strategic direction and translate it into polished, build-ready design artifacts at speed. Portfolio should show execution depth — not just strategy decks, but shipped screens, production flows, and interactive prototypes.
Expert proficiency in Figma — wireframes, high-fidelity comps, interactive prototypes, design specifications, and design system contribution.
Demonstrated ability to use generative AI tools (Claude, Cursor, Figma Make or similar) and prompt-writing techniques to produce interactive, functional prototypes from design direction — not just static mockups. This is a core skill, not a nice-to-have.
Ability to translate complex systems and domain-specific concepts (financial products, regulatory constraints) into human-centered experiences without requiring extensive hand-holding on the subject matter.
Experience partnering effectively with Product and Engineering in fast-moving, iterative environments where design and build happen simultaneously.
Practical knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and how to incorporate them into design deliverables and acceptance criteria.
Confident presenter able to show work to senior, critical stakeholders, receive strong directional feedback, and iterate without losing momentum or conviction.
Comfortable operating in ambiguity within matrixed, cross-functional teams; experience navigating evolving product direction and stakeholder alignment.
Nice to Have
Domain knowledge in retirement planning, wealth management, annuities, or insurance products.
Experience designing for agentic, AI-native product patterns — where the interface adapts, reasons, and responds to user input in real time rather than following a fixed script.
Working knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React) sufficient to evaluate and refine AI-generated prototype output.
Experience working with external design vendors and translating third-party outputs into internal standards and build-ready assets.
Strong understanding of responsive design with the ability to anticipate and resolve experience quality issues before they reach development.
This position will remain posted for a minimum of three business days from the date posted or until a sufficient/appropriate candidate slate has been identified
