    Risk Technology is a cross-functional team of software development specialists, geospatial information specialists, generative AI specialists and catastrophe / financial model specialists who bring best-in-class analytics, thought leadership and expertise in designing, building and supporting industry standard risk analysis tools.

    You will be able to use your practical experience to hit the ground running, contribute to building high quality solutions to help meet our complex business requirements, challenge the technical design and delivery choices, demonstrate you detail-oriented approach with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and ensure a successful delivery.


    The Role:
     

    • Use your natural drive and expertise to evolve the use of Azure cloud technologies to enable successful software delivery whilst developing deep domain knowledge.
    • Design and implement strategies for providing class leading web-based applications and services, using cloud best practices, as a technical expert
    • Own and improve the technical solution for application technical architecture and deployment utilizing existing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to ensure complete coverage and reusability
    • Provide support, advice and steer to application delivery teams in relation to use of cloud technologies
    • Provide support and advice to DevOps team on releases and deployments and Support team on ongoing incidents where required
    • Work closely with the Solutions Engineering Lead maintaining good lines of communication
    • Demonstrate agility, ability to think outside the box and challenge established processes and procedures
    • Bring your enthusiasm and drive to improve and work smarter to benefit our tools and products through awareness of technology trends and direction outside of the organisation
    • Adhere to, promote and improve cloud standards and practices, collaborate on improvements to standards and build relationships with central cloud architecture community.

     

    Qualifications

    The Requirements:

    Essential:

    • Strong work ethic and curiosity with a desire to improve yourself through your work
    • Extensive years of Azure cloud experience as a Developer, DevOps or Cloud Architect
    • Demonstratable understanding of Azure services, solutions and core concepts including networking, compute, data and application services
    • Ability to design secure, scalable and cost-effective cloud architectures
    • Awareness of DevOps tools and practices, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Azure DevOps.
    • Experience mentoring and guiding team members
    • Experience working with groups following Agile methodologies
    • Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a broader project team
    • First-rate communication skills and ability to apply these to rapid and creative problem solving in an occasionally pressurised environment. 
    • Comfortable working remotely or presenting in person in meetings with senior stakeholders

    Desirable:

    • BSc degree in a quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Science, Computer Science etc.)
    • Experience understanding and translating complex business processes involving stakeholder groups and perspectives
    • Experience of working in a financial services organisation, preferably with exposure to the insurance industry/insurance broking. Where this directly relevant experience is not available, we will be looking for an ability to rapidly become effective in a new, unfamiliar environment

    The successful applicant will report to the Risk Technology Solutions Engineering Lead. The role offers hybrid working with travel to office expected on a regular, weekly, cadence for meetings and workshops. Some occasional travel may be required as part of the engagement with business and technology stakeholders.
