Nupur began her journey at WTW in India, drawn to the breadth of opportunities the Management Trainee role offered. The chance to work with leaders across geographies, on a diverse portfolio of clients and gain exposure across multiple areas of Work and Rewards consulting made it a compelling starting point.

From the start, what stood out was the scale of opportunity. Even at an early stage, there was access to a wide range of projects, clients and learning experiences, creating a strong foundation for growth.

Building experience across consulting

Starting in a support role, Nupur worked closely with project teams, contributing through research, analysis, and deliverable development. This early exposure provided valuable insight into consulting and how organizations approach people and rewards strategies.

Over time, her responsibilities expanded. She moved from supporting workstreams to managing them, eventually taking end to end ownership of projects and client deliverables. Today, as a Senior Consultant in Work and Rewards, she plays a key role in delivering solutions with clients and colleagues across different geographies, shifting from more execution focused work to building client relationships.

A role that evolves every day

One of the most engaging aspects of Nupur’s role is its diversity. No two days are the same, with each project bringing a new client context, a different business challenge, and fresh opportunities to learn. This constant change keeps the work both dynamic and intellectually stimulating.

At the same time, the pace of consulting can be demanding. Adapting quickly to new environments, understanding client needs and managing shifting priorities requires focus and resilience. These challenges, however, have been central to her development and have helped strengthen her ability to think critically and respond effectively.

Fostering growth through teamwork and support

A strong sense of partnership has played an important role in Nupur’s journey. Managers and colleagues are approachable, making it easier to seek guidance, align on priorities and navigate busy periods. Over time, she has developed effective planning and prioritization skills, based on open communication and a flexible working environment.

While formal mentorship was not in place when she first joined, WTW’s openness to feedback led to the introduction of structured mentoring and buddy support for future cohorts. This reflects a culture that listens, evolves, and invests in improving the experience for early career professionals.

Lessons from the journey

Reflecting on her experience, Nupur highlights the steep learning curve that often comes with starting a career. “One lesson that has stayed with me is that growth rarely comes wrapped in comfort. There will be tight deadlines, unfamiliar challenges, and moments when you wonder if you're in over your head. But those are the moments that teach you the most. Every challenge adds a new skill, a new perspective, or a little more confidence. Looking back, many of the toughest experiences ended up being the most rewarding.”

Advice for future graduates

For those considering an early careers opportunity at WTW, Nupur shares some advice. “It’s a bit of a rollercoaster: you’ll be challenged, you’ll learn a lot, and there will be days that push you outside your comfort zone. But that’s also what makes the experience so rewarding. Be curious, ask questions, say yes to learning opportunities, and make the most of the incredible people around you. Most importantly, embrace the journey.”
