Sherya Sadoni is an Associate Manager in the Life Insurance Consulting practice at WTW in Gurugram, India. She joined as a graduate after recognising the company’s presence in the actuarial space through independent reviews and industry work, making it a natural place to start her career.

Since joining, she has built experience across a wide range of actuarial projects, working with clients in the UK, India and Sri Lanka.

Building expertise across markets and projects

Shreya is an Associate Manager in WTW's Life Insurance Consulting practice in Gurugram, working with insurance companies across the UK, India and Sri Lanka. Her work focuses on helping clients with financial and regulatory reporting, as well as insurance product pricing. Through a variety of projects across different markets, she has gained experience supporting insurers with a range of business challenges

From calculations to leading delivery

Starting as a graduate, Sherya initially focused on technical calculations and supporting project teams. Reflecting on her journey so far, she says, “Over four years, I've progressed from doing the calculations, to reviewing them, to now owning the full delivery - including team management, client conversations, and assumption ownership.”

Along the way, she has developed not only technical expertise, but also leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.

A culture that encourages ownership

One of the things that stood out to Sherya early on was the welcoming and inclusive culture. She highlights how approachable colleagues and managers are, creating an environment where people are encouraged to ask questions, take initiative and develop their skills.

“The culture is very motivating, it pushes you to take ownership and do better, while giving you the opportunities to grow.”, mentions Sherya.

Building skills for the future

WTW has supported Sherya throughout her actuarial qualification journey, providing study leave, exam funding and access to technical and leadership training.

Alongside formal guidance, informal mentorship has played an important role. Accessible senior colleagues and managers have provided guidance on both technical work and navigating client situations, helping her build confidence over time.

Lessons that stay with you

Reflecting on her experience, Sherya highlights the importance of asking questions and taking ownership from the start.

"Take ownership from the start, ask plenty of questions, and make the most of the support — for your exams, your development and your career," she says.
