Jasmehak joined WTW in India through our Graduate Program and is now a consultant in the Retirement Consulting team. Drawn by the company’s reputation and the opportunity to work on real client projects early on, she saw it as a strong place to build a career in actuarial consulting.

Since starting her career, she has progressed to become an Associate Actuary, building both technical expertise and consulting experience along the way.

Building a foundation in actuarial consulting

From the outset, Jasmehak was exposed to a wide range of client work. Her role includes actuarial valuations, accounting disclosures, funding assessments and strategic consulting projects across different industries.

As her experience has increased, so has her level of responsibility. She now plays a key role in managing project workflows, coordinating deliverables, reviewing reports and supporting complex pension projects, developing not only her technical knowledge but also her project management and client communication skills.

Learning through variety and challenge

One of the aspects Jasmehak values most is the variety in her work. As she explains, “Every project presents a different challenge, whether it involves technical actuarial analysis, solving a complex client issue, or working with colleagues across different teams and geographies.”

Balancing multiple projects and deadlines can be demanding, particularly when working with complex data and client expectations. However, these experiences have helped her strengthen her problem-solving, time management and stakeholder management skills.

Learning through collaboration

Collaboration and mentorship have been central to Jasmehak's experience, helping her build new skills and confidence from the very start. She quickly felt comfortable reaching out to colleagues and learning from experienced team members, which helped make the transition into the workplace smoother.

Mentorship has also been an important part of her journey. She says, “The mentorship and guidance I received from senior colleagues were invaluable. They helped me strengthen my technical and consulting skills, while also giving me practical advice on managing projects and working with clients. Having that support gave me the confidence to take on new challenges early in my career.”

In addition, WTW supported his actuarial qualification journey through the Institute of Actuaries of India, providing study help, resources and flexibility to balance exams alongside client work.

Lessons that shape your career

Looking back, one of the most important lessons for Jasmehak has been that evolution does not stop after university. Instead, it comes from asking questions, seeking feedback and being open to new experiences.

Make the most of every opportunity

For those considering an early careers role in India, Jasmehak encourages a proactive approach. Being curious, taking initiative and stepping outside your comfort zone can open up opportunities to learn and grow.
