Position Overview

 

The Employee Benefits Project Manager plays a critical role within WTW’s Alternative Asset Insurance Solutions (AAIS) Group. AAIS provides employee benefits due diligence for private equity firms, evaluating costs, liabilities, and risk exposures for potential acquisitions. In this role, you will lead the full employee benefits due diligence process—from initial engagement through deal close—serving as a subject‑matter expert across health & welfare benefits, retirement plans, and post‑transaction integration strategies. You will manage cross‑functional workstreams, analyze employer benefit programs, and deliver clear, executive‑ready reports to private equity clients.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Due Diligence Leadership

  • Manage all aspects of employee benefits due diligence for private equity transactions, from kickoff through close.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for AAIS Producers and private equity clients throughout the engagement.

  • Oversee workflows, timelines, and deliverables across multidisciplinary teams.

Analysis & Reporting

  • Conduct detailed analyses of employee benefit programs for mid‑market companies.

  • Interpret and assess plan documents, financial data, contribution strategies, vendor contracts, compliance materials, and government filings (e.g., Form 5500).

  • Develop financial models and reporting using WTW templates and standards.

  • Draft and present comprehensive due diligence reports with clear findings, risks, cost implications, and recommendations.

Internal & External Collaboration

  • Work closely with subject‑matter experts across HR operations, payroll, actuarial, legal, compliance, and retirement teams.

  • Partner with AAIS Producers to support pre‑deal scoping and client communication.

  • Contribute to post‑close support and help secure Broker of Record assignments for WTW where appropriate.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) required.

  • 7+ years of employee benefits brokerage, consulting, or relevant industry experience.

  • Deep knowledge of: 

    • Health & welfare plans (Medical, Pharmacy, Dental, Vision, Life, STD, LTD)

    • Plan design, underwriting, and funding methodologies

    • Benefits regulations including ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA

  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and project management skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to present findings to senior executives.

  • Ability to manage multiple engagements in a fast‑paced, transaction‑driven environment.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across geographically dispersed teams.

  • Displays comfort and credibility when communicating with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.

Compensation and Benefits

 

Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that base salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation (Producer roles only).

 

Compensation

 

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $115,000-$200,000 USD per year.

 

This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
