As a Senior Director of Investment Product Strategy at WTW, you will serve as a senior executive leader responsible for defining and executing the strategic vision for our investment product offerings across all of our investment channels including defined benefit , defined contribution and wealth management  Your extensive expertise will drive enterprise-wide product innovation, strategic partnerships, and commercial growth while providing thought leadership that positions WTW as a market leader in institutional investment solutions.

The Role:

Strategic Leadership & Vision:

  • Define and execute the long-term product strategy aligned with WTW's enterprise objectives and market opportunities across wealth management and institutional segments.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and thought leader, both with internal stakeholders  and externally   in strategic partnerships with banks, trust companies, Asset managers  and distribution platforms.

  • Lead the development of multi-year product roadmaps that anticipate market evolution, regulatory changes, and emerging client needs across CITs, '40 Act products, and alternative investment structures.

  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with senior executives at trustee banks, fund administrators, custodians, and major distribution platforms to enhance WTW's competitive positioning.

  • Collaborate with C-suite and senior leadership to shape firm-wide investment strategy, resource allocation decisions, and go-to-market approaches.

  • Drive thought leadership initiatives including white papers, market research, and industry benchmarking that position WTW as a premier provider of institutional investment solutions.

 

Enterprise Product Development:

  • Oversee the end-to-end product development lifecycle for complex, multi-billion dollar investment products across various asset classes and vehicle structures.

  • Lead the evaluation and selection of product structures (CITs, mutual funds, ETFs, SMAs, private funds) that optimize client outcomes, operational efficiency, and commercial success.

  • Direct comprehensive competitive intelligence operations, conducting deep market analysis to identify white space opportunities and strategic product positioning.

  • Establish product governance frameworks, investment policies, and fiduciary oversight structures that meet institutional standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Navigate complex regulatory landscapes across multiple jurisdictions, working with legal counsel to structure products that comply with ERISA, '40 Act, banking regulations, and tax requirements.

  • Oversee financial modeling, business case development, and P&L management for the product suite, ensuring revenue targets and profitability objectives are achieved.

     

Team Leadership & Organizational Development:

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing product management team, providing strategic direction and professional development opportunities.

  • Establish best practices, processes, and frameworks for product development that can scale across the organization.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and client-centricity within the product organization and across cross-functional teams.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and escalation point for complex product decisions, client negotiations, and strategic initiatives.

  • Partner with HR to attract, retain, and develop top-tier product management talent with expertise in institutional investment products.

 

Client & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Engage with client and sales teams   to understand evolving needs and translate them into product solutions.

  • Cultivate relationships with industry consultants, pension advisors, and gatekeepers who influence product selection decisions.

  • Represent WTW in industry associations, working groups, and regulatory comment processes to shape industry standards and best practices.

 

Innovation & Market Positioning:

  • Champion product innovation initiatives that differentiate WTW in the marketplace, including alternative investment structures,  custom solutions, and technology-enabled offerings.

  • Monitor and assess emerging trends in investment products, distribution channels, and competitive dynamics to inform strategic decision-making.

  • Drive the evolution of WTW's product architecture to address changing market demands, including product structures and asset class innovation 

  • Establish metrics and KPIs to measure product performance, client satisfaction, and market share, using data-driven insights to inform continuous improvement.

Qualifications

The Requirements

  • Minimum of 12+ years of progressive experience in investment product development, management, or strategy within the asset management or institutional consulting industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

  • Deep subject matter expertise in institutional investment products including Collective Investment Trusts (CITs), '40 Act registered products (mutual funds, ETFs, closed-end funds), and separately managed accounts.

  • Demonstrated track record of successfully launching and scaling investment products that have achieved significant asset growth 

  • Comprehensive understanding of wealth management and   including advisor distribution channels, OCIO platforms, and institutional client needs.

  • Extensive knowledge of regulatory frameworks including ERISA, Investment Company Act of 1940, OCC/banking regulations, SEC compliance, and DOL fiduciary standards.

  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams, with experience managing senior-level professionals and driving organizational change.

  • Strategic business acumen with strong financial modeling, P&L management, and business case development capabilities.

  • Established industry network and relationships with key decision-makers at trustee banks, fund administrators, distribution platforms, and institutional investors.

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with experience as an industry thought leader and public speaker.

  • Master's degree (MBA preferred) from a top-tier institution; undergraduate degree in finance, economics, or related field required.

  • Professional credentials strongly preferred: CFA, CAIA, or equivalent advanced certifications demonstrating deep investment expertise.

 

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience at major asset managers or leading OCIO platforms.

  • Direct experience working with bank trust companies and understanding of CIT sponsorship, trustee relationships, and bank regulatory requirements.

  • Background in fiduciary consulting, investment advisory, or institutional client relationship management.

  • Track record of successful M&A integration, strategic partnership development, or new market entry initiatives.

  • Expertise in alternative investment products (private equity, private credit, real assets, hedge funds) and their integration into institutional portfolios.

  • Knowledge of emerging distribution trends including model marketplaces, unified managed accounts (UMAs), and technology-enabled advisory platforms.
