About the team
Our Corporate Risk & Broking's Renewable Energy team in India brings deep expertise in the power industry, combining strong underwriting capabilities with a sharp commercial focus. We work closely with clients and insurers to deliver tailored risk solutions, drive revenue growth, and build long-lasting strategic relationships in a complex and evolving sector.
Role
Client & Portfolio Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, insurers, and intermediaries in the renewable energy sector.
- Advise clients on risk management, insurance placement, and claims handling for renewable energy assets (solar/wind farms, engineering projects, property).
- Prepare and present renewal strategy plans, risk maps, and portfolio reviews to clients.
- Lead end-to-end service delivery for allocated clients, including technical cover analysis and strategic recommendations.
Technical & Risk Advisory
- Conduct risk assessments, site visits, and collaborate with risk engineers to evaluate project exposures (construction, operational, catastrophe, ESG, alternate risk transfer)
- Analyze claims, identify red flags, and recommend risk mitigation strategies for energy projects.
- Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in renewable energy insurance (predictive maintenance, climate modeling, ESG scoring).
Broking & Placement
- Negotiate competitive premiums and coverage terms with insurers and reinsurers.
- Prepare and review policy documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements (IRDA, Brokers Code of Conduct).
- Facilitate placement of risks, including reinsurance, and ensure full compliance with business procedures.
- Aids in the design and delivery of full client presentations/proposals, client advocacy reports, client service plans and schedules
- Business Acumen; knowledge of strategy, tactics, and solutions for the client, and/or in the marketplace
- Strong project management skills: Support the team in end-to-end oversight of large, complex, ambiguous, or multi-dimensional projects
Business Development & Strategy
- Identify new business opportunities and generate leads in the renewable energy sector.
- Develop marketing initiatives, thought leadership and participate in industry events, conferences, and knowledge sessions. Support cross-selling and collaboration with other lines of business (property, marine, employee benefits).
- Engages with sales team to understand marketplace changes and collaborate for opportunities
- Ensure pipeline accuracy and quality are maintained on a regular basis.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in insurance broking, underwriting, risk advisory for renewable energy, engineering, or property sectors.
- Strong technical understanding of renewable energy projects (solar, wind, engineering, property).
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills for client engagement and relationship building.
- Negotiation skills and ability to resolve service issues proactively.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and compliance orientation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Familiarity with insurance regulations, IRDA guidelines, and broking codes of conduct.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Insurance, Management, Engineering, or related field. Insurance certifications (e.g., Fellowship from Insurance Institute of India) preferred.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in insurance broking, underwriting, or risk management for energy/property sectors.
