An Assistant Broker is responsible for broking activity across all lines of Terrorism and Political Violence coverage within the team. In addition to supporting placement activities, responsibilities include coordinating deadlines for internal and external colleagues, as well as clients. This individual will utilize their expertise to help enhance results for the team. The Role:  

An Assistant Broker is responsible for preparing and submitting business to carrier partners, following up on quotations, and providing analytics for key accounts. In this role, you will also be responsible for coordinating internal strategy meetings.

Major Accountabilities: 

  • Gather information and analytics to assess and evaluate client risks in order to support the placement of risks into the market, with support from more experienced brokers.
  • Develop client and prospect presentations to secure new business and to build on existing relationships.
  • Research market solutions to identify and develop optimal risk solutions for clients.
  • Ensure that quality and compliance procedures and processes are adhered to at all times.
  • Execute straightforward new business placements, renewals, and simple alterations to existing cover, under supervision.
  • Record and maintain all information accurately within the appropriate systems.
  • Work closely with colleagues from other departments that support the broking process (e.g. Analytics).
  • Build technical skills by satisfactorily completing required basic and intermediate training courses.
  • Prepare draft submission documents and finalize submissions for delivery.
  • Review quotations against specifications and develop side-by-side comparisons.

Qualifications

  • Possesses sound negotiation skills with both carriers and clients, with the ability to manage as-is renewals and support straightforward business placements.
  • Exhibits solid business acumen with a foundational understanding of insurance concepts, processes, and industry practices.
  • Communicates clearly and confidently, with strong presentation skills suitable for both client-facing and internal engagements.
  • Effectively manages assigned tasks and projects, ensuring timely execution while remaining adaptable, receptive to feedback, and proactive in seeking guidance when needed.
  • leadership capabilities, including ownership of work, informed decision-making, coordination with stakeholders, and strong technology proficiency, including advanced Microsoft Office skills and familiarity with technology-based record management and digital tools.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
