The Role 

CASUALTY PLACEMENT BROKER 

 

The successful candidate will, in the main, be responsible for a book of corporate Casualty business and perform the following activities:

·            Participate in new business sales and in Request for Proposals (RFP’s).

·            Ensure exceptional service delivery aligned with corporate standards and client expectations.

·            Be the strategic technical advisor on Liability insurance and other classes of Casualty cover, to clients and internal stakeholders.

·            Contribute to the retention of the WTW client base by challenging the status quo and providing superior placement solutions.

·            Participate in internal strategy and pre-renewal meetings to strategize on the renewal of the insurance portfolio. 

·            Analyze client risk profile, conduct a needs analysis, review the claims data, review uninsured risks and recommend tailored insurance solutions.

·            Identify & select appropriate insurance Carriers based on a thorough understanding of local market cycles, appetite & capacity.

·            Prepare and ensure accuracy of quote slips.

·            Negotiate terms with insurers so that WTW have the very best terms, cover and structure for the client.

·            Analyze and compare market quotes.

·            Prepare renewal terms presentation with options taking care to note any conditions or subjectivities. Where required present renewal terms to the client and be able to explain and talk through the options and provide client with your recommendation.

·            Bind cover with markets once client firm order is received.

·            Collect / issue policy documentation and submit to clients within 30 days of inception / renewal.

·            Contribute to process improvements and effective utilization of IT systems.

·            Monitor claims and assist claims handler with contentious or repudiated claims.

·            Ensure compliance with WTW standards & procedures and external compliance regulations.

·            Must practice WTW Values i.e., Integrity, Respect, Excellence and Teamwork.

Qualifications

The Requirements 

 

·            Minimum 5 years as a corporate liability broker or underwriter.

·            FAIS compliant: RE5 as well as 120 credits at NQF level 5 (or relevant degree) Regulatory accreditation (e.g., FAIS in South Africa or equivalent) and be up to date with CPD hours. 

·            Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

·            Proven experience managing insurance for corporate Liability programmes.

·            Demonstrate the ability to explain Broad Form Liability insurance coverage and its nuanced aspects.

·            Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.

·            Must have critical thinking skills.

·            Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.

·            A focus on customer service and key deliverables is essential.

·            Be detail orientated, strong with time management and organizational skills.
