Description
Join us as a Commercial Handler/Underwriter based out of our Dublin office working hybrid.
We are seeking a Commercial Insurance Handler/Underwriter with a strong focus on motor fleet insurance. The ideal candidate uses analytical thinking and sound judgement to assess risks and make underwriting decisions, is highly self-motivated, and excels at building relationships. In this role, you will apply your underwriting expertise and logical decision-making skills to manage a portfolio of motor fleet policies while providing excellent service to broker partners in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
The Role
Key Responsibilities:
Underwriting & Risk Analysis: Evaluate by assessing risk factors, analysing claims history and premium rates in line with company guidelines.
Policy Processing: Accurately process and issue policies, schedules, and endorsements on internal systems and Insurer platforms. Maintain attention to detail to ensure all documentation is correct.
Broker & Client Engagement: Respond promptly and professionally to enquiries and requests. Provide timely information and solutions helping to win and retain quality business.
Negotiation: Negotiate terms and pricing with brokers effectively, balancing client needs with portfolio objectives. Strive for mutually beneficial outcomes that secure business while safeguarding underwriting integrity.
Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with brokers, insurers, and team members. Represent the company in a professional manner and foster trust to encourage long-term partnerships.

Team Collaboration & Projects: Work closely with your team and underwriting colleagues to resolve any scheme-related issues. Take ownership of project assignments or process improvements as directed by the Team Leader or Operations Manager, demonstrating initiative and adaptability.
Qualifications
What you’ll bring
CIP (Certified Insurance Practitioner) qualification or actively in progress.
Relevant years of experience in commercial insurance underwriting or handling. Exposure to motor fleet insurance underwriting is highly preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel for data analysis and reporting).
Strong organisational and analytical skills. Proven ability to meet deadlines and maintain high accuracy. Flexible and collaborative team player with a willingness to support and learn from colleagues.
Solid understanding of insurance principles and market practices. Familiarity with motor fleet insurance is a plus.
