About the team

Our insurance consulting and technology (ICT) practice includes over 1,300 insurance practitioners who have expertise across markets, geographies and disciplines. We also work closely with our technology team who are responsible for developing some of the most innovative and widely used non-life actuarial software in the market including ResQ, Emblem, Radar, Igloo, Unify, Data Validator, WTW IFRS 17 Enterprise Solution and other such tools.

 

About the role

We are looking for non-life Actuarial professionals to join our growing actuarial consulting practice. The role offers exposure to insurance and reinsurance markets across multiple geographies and actuarial disciplines, including reserving, pricing, regulatory reporting, capital modelling, and International Financial Reporting Standards 17 (IFRS 17) implementation, while working with leading insurers and reinsurers globally.

You will work collaboratively with some of the market’s top thought leaders on domestic client engagements, catered to variety of requirements of non-life insurance companies. In addition, opportunities arise from time to time to support projects spanning across different Asia Pacific and European countries.

This role is based in Gurgaon (India) to support the insurance consulting team of Willis Towers Watson in India.

 

Key Responsibilities

As part of this role, you will be engaged with our clients to:

• Manage and deliver actuarial consulting engagements across reserve adequacy reviews, liability valuation and independent peer reviews, pricing and product development, International Financial Reporting Standards 17 (IFRS 17) implementation and reporting, capital modelling and risk-based capital (RBC) assessments, reinsurance optimisation, mergers & acquisitions, business planning, market entry, regulatory reporting, and broader actuarial transformation initiatives for insurance and reinsurance clients globally.

• Support the design and implementation of technology-enabled actuarial solutions, including pricing and reserving analytics, International Financial Reporting Standards 17 (IFRS 17) systems, data transformation initiatives, process automation, and the digitalisation of actuarial and finance functions.

• Manage end-to-end project delivery, overseeing multiple workstreams, ensuring technical excellence, quality assurance, effective resource management, and the successful execution of complex client engagements.

• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders and delivering insights and solutions that address strategic, financial, and regulatory priorities.

• Drive innovation, thought leadership, and practice development through research, intellectual capital creation, the development of actuarial methodologies and tools, and the design of differentiated market solutions.

• Contribute to business growth by identifying emerging client needs, developing new service offerings, supporting business development initiatives, and expanding existing client relationships.

• Guide and train junior team members on technical concepts and professional development, while fostering a culture aligned with WTW's values of Client Focus, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect, and Excellence.

Qualifications

The Requirement: 

• 8+ years of actuarial experience within a non-life insurance company or the general insurance practice of a consulting, professional services, or insurance industry, in India and other geographies.

• Qualified Actuary or nearly qualified from the Institute of Actuaries of India, the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK), or a comparable actuarial body.

• Strong technical knowledge of reserving, pricing and other common technical actuarial topics. desirable to have knowledge International Financial Reporting Standards 17 implementation practices.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, along with experience using general insurance actuarial software - ResQ, Emblem, Radar etc. Exposure to programming and data analytics tools such as Python, VBA, SQL, R, or Power BI would be advantageous.

• Strong communication and analytical skills to efficiently make judgements and explain results to senior leadership and identify solutions for clients, along with participate effectively in development of junior resources.

• Good to have hands-on experience on other geographies beyond India/APAC regions.

• Self-motivated to learn and develop new skills, ideas and solutions for clients. Ability to develop out of-box solutions as part of projects.

• Proactive, energetic, and can demonstrate being a “safe pair of hands”.

• Good project management, task prioritisation and time management skills.

• Willingness to travel to client site when required
