Description

We are seeking an accomplished Transformation Director to join our Insurance Technology Consulting practice and play a pivotal role in shaping, selling, and delivering technology-enabled business transformations for insurance clients.

This is a leadership role at the intersection of insurance domain expertise, technology programme delivery, and business development. The successful candidate is a technologist at heart who has grown into a trusted transformation leader. They can credibly shape a proposition, win the work in front of a C-suite audience, stand up a complex programme, and stay close enough to delivery to keep it on track.

You will help insurers set up and deliver transformation programmes across the value chain, from core platform modernisation to data and digital transformation, spanning Underwriting, Claims, Pricing, Reserving, Capital Modelling, and Risk & Finance.

This is a UK-based role with a global remit, supporting client engagements, proposition development, and delivery initiatives across multiple geographies.

This is an ideal opportunity for a senior consulting or industry professional who has set up and run large technology programmes end-to-end, across the full lifecycle from proposition and sale to delivery.

The Role

Key Responsibilities

Sell Consulting Engagements Primary Focus

  • Lead and support pre-sales activities, structuring compelling, commercially attractive, and pragmatic transformation solutions for insurance clients.
  • Partner with clients and consulting teams to understand business challenges and define credible, deliverable programme approaches.
  • Bring gravitas and presence in front of C-suite and executive stakeholders, talking credibly about how technology programmes are set up, governed, and delivered.
  • Develop proposals and solution narratives that articulate business value, delivery approach, cost, risk, and ROI.
  • Own and convert multi-million-pound pursuits from proposition through mobilisation, with clear accountability for sales and revenue growth.

Deliver Transformation Programmes Primary Focus

  • Provide delivery leadership across complex, multi-workstream insurance transformation programmes, owning mobilisation, governance, delivery approach, and outcomes.
  • Set up programmes for success: shape target operating models, delivery roadmaps, resourcing, vendor/SI arrangements, and governance structures.
  • Guide multidisciplinary teams (business, architecture, engineering, change) through delivery, staying close enough to spot and resolve risk early.
  • Ensure solutions meet enterprise requirements for security, resilience, scalability, and compliance, and that benefits are realised.

Shape Go-to-Market Propositions Supporting Responsibility

  • Evolve our Insurance Technology Consulting propositions, embedding modern insurance technology, data, and AI capabilities into market-facing offerings.
  • Shape AI-enabled and agentic operating models for insurers, translating emerging AI capability into practical, governed, and commercially compelling transformation propositions.
  • Collaborate with Insurance and Technology Consulting leaders to develop differentiated, outcome-led propositions.
  • Apply practical delivery experience to help set up and de-risk transformation programmes across underwriting, claims, actuarial, finance, and risk.
  • Contribute thought leadership and establish best practices for transformation programme design, operating models, and delivery assurance.

Qualifications

What you’ll bring

     Experience & Skills Required

     Insurance Domain Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of the insurance value chain and one or more core domains: Underwriting, Claims, Pricing and Rating, Actuarial and Reserving, Capital Modelling, Finance and Regulatory Reporting.
  • Ability to translate insurance business drivers into technology transformation outcomes and speak credibly with both insurance business and technology stakeholders.

    Transformation Leadership & Delivery

  • Track record of setting up and delivering insurance technology and AI transformation programmes end-to-end, covering mobilisation, governance, delivery, and benefits realisation.
  • Deep delivery leadership across insurance platforms (policy admin, claims, billing, underwriting/pricing) and/or core modernisation, migration, and digital transformation.
  • Fluency across delivery models and methods (Agile, hybrid, and waterfall), with the pragmatism to apply the right approach to each programme.
  • Experience managing vendors, system integrators, and multi-supplier delivery in complex client environments.

Commercial & Consulting Acumen

  • Experience across the full lifecycle of proposition, pre-sales, solution shaping, and delivery in consulting, insurance technology, or transformation.
  • Strong commercial and operational awareness, balancing strategic ambition, implementation complexity, delivery risk, and value realisation.
  • Ability to build and lead high-performing multidisciplinary teams, and to grow client relationships into sustained, revenue-generating engagements.
  • Credibility as a trusted adviser to CIOs and senior executives, connecting business ambition, technology strategy, and execution to solve complex transformation challenges.

Technology Breadth (Technologist at Heart)

  • Broad, credible technology grounding that lets you engage architects and engineers as a peer, spanning cloud platforms, application and integration architecture, APIs, data, and AI.
  • Familiarity with modern cloud-native platforms and patterns underpinning insurance modernisation (e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP; core insurance/data platforms; API-led integration).
  • Strong grasp of data, analytics, and AI/ML, including AI-enabled and agentic operating models, and how governed AI adoption drives outcomes.
  • Enough hands-on depth to interrogate solution designs, delivery plans, and estimates, and to hold delivery teams and vendors to account.

Leadership Presence

  • Gravitas and executive presence, able to build trust quickly and communicate complex concepts in terms of business value, outcomes, and ROI.
  • A well-rounded, practical leader with the credibility that comes from having genuinely set up and delivered programmes, not just advised on them.
