Description
Join our team as the National Workers' Compensation Placement Leader and drive the evolution of our placement function within the Workplace Risk practice. You will lead a high-performing placement team, reporting directly to the Head of Workplace Risk, and play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional value to clients across Australia. This is an opportunity for a proven technical expert in workers’ compensation underwriting or placement to shape our market proposition, ensure best-in-class outcomes for clients, and champion innovation and strategic thinking in a dynamic environment.
The Role
- Develop and implement the national placement strategy for workers’ compensation, aligned with the overall Workplace Risk business objectives.
- Manage, mentor, and develop the placement team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and client focus.
- Oversee the placement of all client workers’ compensation programs, ensuring optimal terms, pricing, and compliance with legislative requirements.
- Act as the primary escalation point for placement issues, complex negotiations, and market challenges.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with insurers, underwriters, and regulatory bodies to ensure market access and influence.
- Drive continuous improvement in placement processes, including the adoption of automation, data analytics, and best practice methodologies.
- Collaborate with client service and consulting teams to deliver integrated solutions and support business development initiatives.
- Ensure robust governance and adherence to all regulatory, compliance, and internal policy requirements.
- Represent the placement function in internal and external forums, contributing to thought leadership and market positioning.
- Support the Head of Workplace Risk with strategic projects and reporting as required.
Qualifications
The Requirements
- Extensive experience in workers’ compensation placement, underwriting, or broking, with a deep understanding of the Australian market and regulatory landscape.
- Proven technical expertise and credibility in workers’ compensation, with the ability to solve complex placement challenges and deliver innovative solutions.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with a track record of developing high-performing teams and driving cultural change.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence at all levels.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
- High attention to detail, with a commitment to delivering the best possible outcomes for clients.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or professional certifications (e.g., ANZIIF, MBA) are highly regarded.
