Description

This is a great opportunity to join our Payroll Team as a Payroll Team Leader in our Redhill office working hybrid. As a Payroll Team Leader, you will be responsible for checking responsibilities for the payroll running processes on behalf of some of the UK’s best-known employers.  Our role is to ensure that our pensioners are paid on time and accurately, and that all other related tasks are dealt with correctly in line with current procedures.

The Role 

  • Manage a team of Payroll Administrators and Senior Payroll Administrators and be responsible for ensuring that all schemes allocated to your team have had monthly tasks completed.  

  • Maintain and develop your own knowledge of pensioner payroll administration and be a point of reference on technical issues and non-standard cases.

  • Ensure work allocated is carried out in accordance with: 

    • HMRC legislation.
    • Practice guidelines. 
    • Documented operating procedures. 
    • Quality standards. 
    • Performance / Service standards.
  • Ensure all work is logged onto and processed through Workflow. 
  • Must be able to work to a high level of accuracy. 
  • Monitor own workflow and that of junior associates via Workflow to ensure service levels are achieved. 
  • Take the lead in more complex/project work when required. 
  • Build and maintain technical, procedures and client knowledge through experience. 
  • Work with Payroll Management to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs e.g. automation, full use of standard procedures. 
  • Ensure team members are fully informed of: 
    • Current events. 
    • Procedural changes. 
    • PAYE changes.
  • Manage automated payroll calculation system processes.   
  • Deal with the authorisation of payments made outside of the payroll system as required.
  • IT/BENEFITCONNECT 
    • Ensure your payroll client databases are complete, accurate and standard. 
    • Maintain a good working knowledge of all systems and products to include 
      • PMS6000, GPS and Workflow 
      • Microsoft packages (Outlook/Excel/Word)
      • Q-Tax Pro
      • Outsourced Printers Web Portal
      • Non-UK payroll software as required, e.g. ROI 
      • Offshore Island spreadsheets

Qualifications

What you’ll bring 

 

  • Experience dealing with pensioner payroll administration is essential

  • Experience with People management is essential

  • Progression in CIPP qualification would be an advantage.

  • Interpersonal skills to included excellent written and verbal communication. 

  • Ability to influence others in support of change. 

  • Good time management skills and the ability to organise and prioritise own workload.

  • Able to work to a high level of accuracy.

  • Able to work well under pressure, stay focussed and meet targets.

  • Computer literate with fast and accurate keyboard input skills and an intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft packages. 

  • Numerical, analytical and problem solving abilities.
