Description
The Investment Global Portfolio Strategy Team seeks a highly numerate, technically strong lateral thinker to contribute to the team’s research, frameworks and technology tools. This role offers the opportunity to develop deep expertise and make an impact on global institutional investors’ asset allocation and multi-asset strategy.
Responsibilities
• Contribute to, and where appropriate lead, research and content development supporting the evolution of WTW’s portfolio design framework
• Support the effective integration of content team views into the portfolio construction framework
• Contribute to the specification and implementation/coding of portfolio design and construction frameworks into our key technology partner, Jacobi (coding skills a bonus, but not a necessity as AI can help)
• Assist in the development and improvement of asset class assumptions and other data inputs into the Jacobi ecosystem
• Provide ad‑hoc support to top-down research projects on new clients, asset classes and portfolio construction needs for the Global Portfolio Management Group.
• Support regional portfolio managers and client teams in applying the Total Portfolio Approach (TPA) and global portfolio construction frameworks to showcase our value add and develop innovative solutions
• Support asset class streams in applying TPA principles within their portfolio-building process
• Understand and research the current and evolving multi-asset client base to help identify future commercial needs
• Train colleagues and clients on portfolio design and construction frameworks, and the tools we use, in particular Jacobi
• Contribute to high-value TPA- and Sustainability-related research projects with large asset owners
Qualifications
What you'll bring
• Strong numerical background (e.g. degree in Mathematics, Physics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Quantitative Finance, Finance, Econocs etc). Attainment/progress towards post-graduate qualification such as PhD, Actuary or CFA is desirable but not essential.
• Deep interest in applying quantitative techniques to the real world of investing, i.e. using maths to solve investors’ problems.
• Knowledge of, and strong interest in, the institutional investment industry and economics.
• Proven work experience in a role applying technical skills to real world problems.
• Proven ability to research complex topics, apply analytical techniques and drive toward pragmatic solutions.
• Detail and results orientated, with a structured, systematic and analytical approach to work
• Good organisation and time management skills, with a proven ability to handle a variety of assignments and meet tight deadlines
• Strong presentation and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team, with enthusiasm to challenge processes and drive change.
• Confidence to communicate and work with people at all levels, across locations and functions
• Knowledge of institutional investors is desirable but not essential.
• Highly proficient in Excel; coding skills in VBA/python/R/SQL are valuable but not required.
