Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Risk Engineer to join our growing Risk Engineering team within Risk & Analytics, based in Sydney, Australia.
Working as part of WTW's Risk Engineering practice, you will help clients manage complex property risks while contributing to the continued growth of our business across the Pacific.
This role provides the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of industrial, manufacturing, logistics, commercial property, infrastructure, construction and renewable energy clients, delivering practical engineering advice and technical risk assessments that help organisations better understand, manage and reduce property risks.
You will lead property risk engineering engagements, developing technical reports, property loss estimates and risk improvement recommendations, while becoming a trusted technical adviser to clients, insurers and brokers. Combining engineering expertise with practical, commercially balanced advice, you will help clients make informed risk management and underwriting decisions.
Joining a team recognised for its technical expertise, collaborative approach and strong client relationships, you will collaborate with colleagues across Risk & Analytics, Broking and WTW's broader network to deliver integrated solutions for complex client challenges.
As our Risk Engineering practice continues to grow, you will play an important role in strengthening our technical practice, mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the ongoing development of our business across the Pacific.
The Role
- Lead property risk engineering engagements across a diverse portfolio of industrial, manufacturing, logistics, commercial property, infrastructure, construction and renewable energy clients throughout Australia and the Pacific.
- Conduct property risk engineering surveys and prepare high-quality technical reports, property loss estimates and practical risk improvement recommendations in accordance with WTW methodologies.
- Assess property loss exposures, including fire, natural hazards, business interruption and equipment-related risks, providing practical engineering solutions that support risk management and underwriting decisions.
- Build trusted relationships with clients, brokers and insurers through professional delivery, technical expertise and commercially balanced engineering advice.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, contributing to their technical development while fostering a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to technical quality assurance by reviewing work, sharing best practice and maintaining the high standards of WTW's Risk Engineering practice.
- Support business development activities, including client meetings, proposals, presentations and tender responses, while identifying opportunities to strengthen client relationships and grow the business.
- Collaborate with colleagues across Risk & Analytics, Broking and WTW's broader network to deliver integrated client solutions and contribute to regional initiatives across the Pacific.
Qualifications
The Requirement
We are looking for an experienced property risk engineer with strong technical capability, commercial judgement and the ability to build trusted client relationships. You will be passionate about delivering practical engineering solutions, mentoring others and contributing to the continued growth of a high-performing technical practice.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Experience in property risk engineering, fire protection engineering, loss prevention or a related engineering field.
- Strong knowledge of industrial property risks, fire protection systems and property loss prevention principles.
- Experience conducting property risk engineering surveys and preparing high-quality technical reports, property loss estimates and risk improvement recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with clients, brokers, insurers and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring or supporting the development of junior engineers or technical professionals is highly regarded.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple client engagements.
- Willingness to undertake regular domestic travel, with occasional international travel where required.
