When Rajdeep Chatterjee joined WTW in India as a campus hire, he expected the transition from university to the corporate world to come with a steep learning curve. What stood out, instead, was the approachable culture around him. Guidance from senior colleagues and team members helped him settle quickly, build confidence, and establish a strong foundation for his career.

Learning through real-world experience

Rajdeep shares exactly what it is that made him feel like he belongs. “WTW is a great place to start your career because it gives you meaningful exposure from the beginning, while still surrounding you with supportive people. You get to learn, contribute, ask questions and grow through real business and technology challenges.”

Today, Rajdeep works as a Developer, contributing across backend and frontend development, databases, and deployment activities. His role involves understanding business requirements, building, and enhancing solutions, helping with releases, resolving issues, and collaborating with teams across different functions.

Expanding capabilities through new experiences

One of the aspects Rajdeep enjoys most about his role is the variety it offers. Every project presents opportunities to work with new technologies, deepen his understanding of business needs, and solve problems that create real impact. The constant learning keeps each day engaging and rewarding.

As his career has progressed, he has taken on increasing levels of ownership. What began as contributing to clearly defined tasks has evolved into leading larger deliverables, working across multiple technology areas, improving developer efficiency through automation and reusable assets, and supporting others through mentoring and interview processes.

Along the way, he has learned that success is about much more than technical expertise. Balancing speed, quality, and maintainability within complex systems requires strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Understanding the wider business context behind the work has become just as important as delivering the technical solution itself.

Building confidence through partnering with mentors

Mentorship has been a key part of Rajdeep’s development. Senior colleagues provided early guidance that helped him strengthen his technical capabilities while also gaining a broader understanding of how his work contributes to business outcomes. Their assistance helped him build confidence, develop a sense of ownership, and establish strong habits around quality and collaboration.

Reflecting on his experience, Rajdeep encourages graduates to “Stay curious, ask questions, and take initiative. Try to understand the purpose behind the work, not just the task itself. WTW gives you the right environment to learn and contribute, so make the most of every opportunity.”

Where growth meets opportunity

For graduates looking to build technical expertise while developing broader professional skills, WTW offers an environment where learning happens every day. With important responsibilities, engaged mentorship, and opportunities to work on real business challenges, it is a place where early careers can evolve into long-term success.
