The Role
Willis Towers Watson is currently seeking to recruit a Senior Risk Consulting Engineer to join our rapidly expanding Asia Risk & Analytics team.
The role will involve conducting insurable Construction and Operational risk surveys for a wide range of regional clients and providing risk & insurance advisory, risk assessment, data analytics, loss prevention and technical claims support. The role will involve managing accounts for large multinational organisations and requires a thorough knowledge of Highly Protected Risk (HPR) standards, international codes and standards, fire and life safety systems, as well as an understanding of project and construction risk management techniques. In addition, the successful candidate must bring a level of dynamism that enables the implementation of good working practices, with a strong understanding of core intent and delivery. The individual should be capable of advocating for and supporting operational change and effectiveness, contributing to the future introduction of frameworks and consistency across diverse organisational structures. Strong verbal communication and the ability to champion change effectively will be essential differentiators in this role, alongside the capacity to hit the ground running with both surveys and client work.
Key responsibilities include:
Collaborate with the wider Risk & Analytical team to assess, shape, and deliver strategic, analytics‑led consulting services and value propositions for both construction and operational clients and prospects.
Design and arrange detailed Risk Engineering services through discussions with Willis account teams, clients and underwriter engineers.
Coordinate, manage and lead the execution of underwriting surveys to the satisfaction of clients and insurers.
Prepare underwriting information and risk profile reports to assist in the placement of client insurance programs. Reports will contain key understanding of the hazards at facilities and how the management team are controlling/mitigating their impact.
Develop risk improvement recommendations that are clear, appropriate and are fairly balanced between the interests of clients and insurers
Prepare calculations of various worst case loss scenarios within company guidelines across a range of industries and insurance lines
Ensure that all reports and other deliverables are prepared to quality standards and in a timely manner
Provide technical support and guidance to clients and the Willis broking team(s) across a range of risk issues relating to good industry practices
Forensic analysis of industry related claims to identify the cause and where necessary, lead the technical aspect of the investigation, calling in other expert support and liaising with claims advocates to ensure full and timely settlement
Input into and maintain all risk management team tracking and management information tools
Maintain technical competency in key industrial sectors and hazards whilst keeping personal knowledge up to date with risk management developments (e.g. attend seminars, review technical publications, etc.)
Represent Willis professionally on business trips and in meetings
Comply with all Willis company policies (e.g. Travel, Ethics, etc.)
Qualifications
Strong verbal communication and ability to champion change effectively; presentation skills beneficial.
Relevant industry experience with a broad range of design, construction, operations or risk consulting experience to senior level within Asia
High level of Risk Engineering technical expertise in HPR, Fire and Security protection standards and techniques
Degree (or equivalent) and risk management qualifications and/or relevant accreditations
Must bring dynamism and the ability to implement good working practices with clear understanding of intent and delivery.
Comfortable travelling extensively (e.g. 80-95 days per year) within Asia
Self-starter, with good interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively relate to individuals at all levels – from site technicians up to company CEOs
Proven ability to write detailed reports in English of a varied technical nature
Experience of carrying out construction/property risk surveys
Knowledge and experience of working with Asian, NFPA, FM and other international property conservation codes
Knowledge of NATCAT risks and mitigation standards
Multiple language skills would be a bonus
