Description

The Role

  • Providing advice across all business segments on legal and insurance regulatory issues  
  • Negotiate numerous standard and complex corporate and commercial agreements, specifically focusing on producer agreements and related agreements with carriers while balancing appropriate legal and business risks. 
  • Work with cross functional teams (corporate development, sales, strategy, marketing, IT, HR, finance, etc.) to achieve business objectives. 
  • Undertake effective engagement with the company’s business clients, government regulators, vendors, outside lawyers, trade bodies and other parties. 
  • Rapidly assess potential legal risks, benefits and consequences of decisions, present alternatives and propose solutions to achieve business objectives while skillfully managing legal and practical business considerations.

Qualifications

The Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-10 years relevant corporate and commercial experience in a fast-paced dynamic culture; prior in-house experience a plus but not required; level is flexible based on experience.  
  • Licensed attorney with outstanding academic credential from a nationally recognized law school and work experience (business experience and/or in-house legal experience is a plus).
  • Experience with insurance regulatory law relating to property casualty insurance (including surplus lines) or health and benefits (including employee benefits) required (both preferred but not required).  
  • Experience with reinsurance laws and regulations a plus but not required.   
  • Must be a business-oriented team player, with a desire and ability to learn about the company’s various businesses and understand the business operations and legal needs. 
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills, with special emphasis on excellent negotiation skills. 
  • Ability to think critically, spot issues in and negotiate improvements to transaction documents. 
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and maintain effective working relationships. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, with excellent judgment regarding when to elevate issues. 
  • Ability to summarize key legal and business issues and alternatives for executive decisions. 
  • Results-focused; able to work in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. 
  • Self- starter and independent/strategic thinker.
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

 

 

 

Compensation and Benefits

 

Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation (Producer roles only).

 

Compensation

 

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $150,000.00-$200,000.00 USD annually. This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
