The Role

The Business Development role supports new client acquisition and revenue growth for the RDI / Work & Rewards business, with primary accountability for business development activities, opportunity identification, and pre-sales consulting support.

The role focuses on qualifying prospects, supporting value-based selling, and converting opportunities into engagements, while working closely with Project Leaders, Client Success Managers, and industry experts. 

  1. Business Development and New Client Acquisition (80%)
    • Develops and raises client awareness of WTW Work & Rewards / Rewards Data Intelligence (RDI) products and services, proactively identifying new business, upsell, and cross‑sell opportunities through marketing initiatives, client events, and scoping calls. Refers leads and opportunities to Project Leaders or Client Success Managers as appropriate.

    • Supports new client acquisition efforts by qualifying inbound leads, participating in introductory discussions, and conducting structured scoping conversations to understand client needs.

    • Conducts market, industry, and prospect research to understand client context, competitive landscape, and reward‑related challenges.

    • Supports value‑based selling by clearly articulating WTW’s propositions to client stakeholders. Presents selected materials and insights to clients including product overviews, survey scope, benchmarks, or proposal walk‑throughs, WTW studies, typically in partnership with or under guidance from Project Leaders.

    • Provides execution support and oversight for marketing and growth initiatives, helping ensure client events, surveys, webinars, and sales campaigns are implemented as planned.

    • Assists in targeted outreach (emails, call, LinkedIn, etc.) to prospective clients within assigned accounts, adapting communication to different stakeholder audiences with guidance from Project leaders.

    • Collaborates with Client Success Managers, Project Leaders, and regional counterparts to surface, develop, and prioritize opportunities. 

    • Prepares client‑ready business development materials, including standard and non‑standard proposals, discussion documents, letters of engagement, and initial project costings. 

    • Ensures all proposals and Businiess Development documents are accurate, updated, and compliant with WTW standards (pricing logic, assumptions, formatting, spelling, and content). 

    • Monitors and oversees contracting and onboarding activities for new clients, coordinating with the Consulting Admins to ensure timely completion of prospect reviews, proposal finalization, legal review, and signature tracking.

    • Maintains and updates RDI systems, trackers, and pipeline records via MS Dynamics to support reporting and visibility. 

       

  2. Provides account management support (10%)

    • While primarily focused on new client acquisition, responds to straightforward renewal/repeat‑participant inquiries, resolves basic questions, and escalates/hand‑offs to Client Success Managers for renewal ownership and next steps.

    • Assists in conducting job matching sessions, survey walkthroughs, and client orientations for selected accounts as needed. 

    • Responds to routine client inquiries related to surveys, benchmarks, or standard offerings in a timely manner, escalating complex issues as appropriate.

    • Displays and applies strong understanding and knowledge of firm-wide survey methodologies, processes and available WTW products and services in performing one’s work responsibilities. 

    • Partners with Project Leaders in developing and presenting materials for client-facing meetings, presentations on industry trends, pulse surveys and events by conducting research, surveys and interviews as applicable, to gain understanding of the business landscape.

       

  3. Provides consulting support to project engagements/projects (10%)

    • Provides limited project and consulting support, including: 

      • Participation in selected client meetings, interviews, or focus group discussions

      • Preparation of benchmarking analyses and market insights under guidance

    • Supports development of project outputs (analysis, charts, presentations) related to RDI surveys, W&R projects or standard solutions. 

    • Ensures accuracy, consistency, and compliance with WTW Excellence standards for all deliverables. 

    • Coordinates documentation, information requests, and file management as required. 

    • May work with Client Success Manager on specific tasks related to data validation, benchmarking, or survey processes.

    • Ensures that all output at his/her level are thoroughly reviewed before submitting to Project Leaders for review within agreed timeline (e.g. clean data, spelling, grammar, dates, company name, disclaimer notice, charts/graphs/tables are consistent with data, Excellence page, etc.). Must apply and demonstrate resourcefulness, attention to details, analytical, evaluative, and investigative skills in producing output

    • Ensures proper storage and maintenance of files in Team Collaboration Tool folders.

       

  4. Actively participates in W&R and WTW special projects or activities (i.e. business planning, regional/community trainings, townhalls, engagement activities, etc.) 

     

  5. Other work-related assignments that may be asked from time-to-time

 

Qualifications

The Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least 3-4 years of relevant experience preferably in: 
    • Business development, sales support, or revenue-generating roles
    • HR consulting, compensation & benefits, or rewards-related work
    • Market surveys, analytics, or research-oriented roles
  • Strong interest in business development, sales, or revenue-generating work, including exposure to market surveys, analytics, or data
  • Keen interest in the consulting environment and working with multiple clients across industries

  • Working knowledge of, or strong willingness to learn, reward, compensation, and HR topics

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail

  • Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment

  • Collaborative and client-oriented

  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint
