Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to provide expert legal advice and support to our organization, primarily to the Corporate Risk and Brokering businesses within WTW Central America. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with legal regulations, managing contractual agreements, handling litigation and law firms, among other responsibilities. Also, the candidate should be able to advise business leaders on risks, provide legal support to new and changing business initiatives, and independently handle all types of contracts, including complicated and non-standard contracts, in an efficient and business-friendly manner.

The Role

  • Provide legal guidance on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international laws, industry regulations, and company policies.
  • Advise management on legal risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Handle dispute resolution, litigation, and liaise with external legal counsel when necessary.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on relevant laws and regulations.
  • Support HR in employment law matters, policies, and workplace compliance.
  • Assist in corporate governance, intellectual property, and mergers & acquisitions.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with internal and external clients.

Qualifications

The Requirements

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited institution; admitted and in good standing to practice law in Panama.
  • 6 to 8 years of relevant experience; prior in-house experience a plus but not required.
  • Insurance, privacy and/or regulatory background preferred.
  • Strong legal contracting background.
  • Excellent judgment and integrity with the ability to think strategically and give timely, effective, and practical general corporate and commercial legal advice.
  • Client service focus and the ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines and manage many projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively, including in work-from-home environments.
  • Ability to work and communicate with colleagues and business clients in a professional, ethical, and positive manner as a team player.
  • Strong attention to detail, along with excellent analytic, legal drafting and oral and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in English (oral and written)
