The Role

The Regional Claim Director provides technical and strategic leadership across construction claims, insurance coverage, and contract advisory within the assigned region. As a key member of the Willis North America Construction Claims leadership team, the role advances the value proposition of the Wills North America Construction Practice in delivering best-in-class claim technical and advocacy to construction clients. In addition to supporting clients and Willis construction service teams within the region, the Regional Claim Director collaborates closely with regional leadership across sales, broking, and safety/risk control.

Role responsibilities include:

Claims:

  • Manage a portfolio of designated construction clients as the primary Claim Consultant assigned to the service team
  • Provide claim advocacy and consulting on all professional liability claims
  • Serve as a technical, jurisdictional, and strategic resource for clients and colleagues
  • Provide senior level claim advocacy, including market escalation on high severity or otherwise critical claims, including all coverage disputes
  • Advise on significant court decisions, legislative changes and other emerging trends impacting construction claims

Coverage (In collaboration with Willis NA Construction Broking): 

  • Act as a technical and jurisdictional resource to the broking team, including contribution toward insurance coverage specifications
  • Participate in the renewal processes for large accounts, including coverage endorsement review/development
  • Advise on significant court decisions, legislative changes and other emerging trends impacting construction insurance coverage

Contracts (In collaboration with Willis NA Construction Office of Contracts and Compliance)

  • Act as a technical and jurisdictional resource to clients and colleagues on contract provisions related to insurance and risk allocation
  • Support development and delivery of best practices to clients and colleagues
  • Advise on significant court decisions, legislative changes and other emerging trends impacting contractual risk allocation

Sales:  

  • Support Regional Construction Leaders and local production teams on new business opportunities, including technical sales support
  • Engagement on large construction new business opportunities, including all RFP’s
  • Identify and develop consulting opportunities (e.g., FAVS, ICC and LCC)

Qualifications

The Requirements

  • Strong technical knowledge of construction general liability coverage/claims, including construction defect 
  • Technical knowledge of professional liability coverage/claims
  • Knowledge of builder’s risk and/or subcontractor default insurance is a plus  
  • Solid understanding of construction specific contractual risk allocation
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Insurance brokerage experience is a plus
