Description
The Director of Technology Resilience is a leadership role responsible for maintaining WTW’s technology resilience strategy, ensuring continuity, recovery, and operational integrity across all technology platforms. This role aligns technology resilience initiatives with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. This position will drive a culture of proactive risk management, operational robustness, and strategic foresight, safeguarding critical systems against disruption, cyber threats, and operational failures. This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of two days per week in the office.
The Role:
Strategic Leadership and Direction
- Own the overall direction, strategy, and vision for technology resilience across the organisation.
- Define measurable goals and objectives for technology resilience initiatives.
- Ensure alignment of resilience strategies with overarching business objectives, corporate risks, and regulatory requirements.
- Translate strategic resilience objectives into actionable frameworks for the technology organisation.
Technology Resilience Frameworks and Policies
- Maintain a comprehensive technology resilience framework encompassing preventative, detective, corrective, and recovery measures.
- Establish policies, standards, and controls for infrastructure and applications across traditional, cloud, and hybrid environments.
- Oversee the integration of resilience planning into new technology initiatives and re-engineered systems.
Risk Assessment and Operational Oversight
- Monitor and report operational risk profiles, vulnerabilities, and exposures to senior leadership.
- Lead response planning for major incidents and crises, including oversight of disaster recovery exercises and simulations.
- Evaluate and mitigate risks associated with third-party vendors, cloud transition, and large-scale infrastructure changes.
- Oversee due diligence, risk monitoring, and assurance of third-party IT suppliers critical to business operations.
Technology Design
- Collaborate with Architecture, IT and Cyber Security teams to integrate resilience into security-by-design practices.
- Promote resilient design patterns in cloud architectures, platforms, and software systems.
- Attendance on Architecture governance board
Stakeholder Engagement and Governance
- Forge strong relationships with business, IT, risk, and compliance teams to integrate resilience considerations across projects.
- Provide regular briefings and insights to executive leadership and relevant governance committees.
- Serve as a trusted advisor for technology resilience and operational continuity planning.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the technology resilience function, ensuring high performance, engagement, and talent retention.
- Embed a culture of accountability, ethics, and continuous learning within the team.
- Ensure cross-functional collaboration to integrate resilience knowledge across IT, security, and operational functions.
Qualifications
What you'll bring:
- Technology resilience, operational risk, or business continuity in complex, regulated environments.
- Proven track record of leading resilience strategy from conception through execution
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks relevant to operational resilience and risk management (e.g., ISO, DORA, SOC, SOX).
- Strategic thinking with the ability to operationalize goals into tangible plans and outcomes.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities in complex technical environments.
- Resilient, adaptable, and able to operate effectively in fast-paced and high-stakes situations.
- Deep understanding of risk assessment, incident response, disaster recovery, and continuity planning.
